| Quote TrentBarrett="TrentBarrett"For a player out of position in a team who didn't get out of first gear on a terrible pitch playing an enthusiastic gritty side I thought he performed very well.'"
Is he out of position though? The coaching staff certainly see him more as a winger than centre due to the flaws in his game. From what I have seen so far I would agree. He did okay, no more no less, but for me there is no point in bigging him up on very little, ignoring the faults and setting him up for a fall.

I agree, i thought his finishing was woeful and his defence was poor and he ran pretty soft for his size. He got lucky in the second half when he dropped a ball and the ref ruled it as a strip.

Ran soft? you need to watch him again he takes the ball in as hard as Pat does, and you can hardly blame his finishing when Raynor effectively took him out.

I agree with you he was running solid all game and bumped off at least 8 players during the game. he was also robbed a try no way did raynor ground that ball. He isnt winger either he is defo a or 2nd row.

| He's a little rough around the edges but is showing signs, albeit small of what he's capable of.
In saying that, in regards to his last disallowed try, he should have known better than to reach out and try place the ball down in that manner. He'd have been far better served tucking it under his right arm and sliding in, that could well have lost us the match that poor finish. As harsh as it may seem I'd play King next week against Ull KR with Carmont inside him. If you make a mistake and there's someone else waiting in the wings it's only right that your dropped.

| Didn't Wane say Gelling wouldn't be ready for at least a year? He's still a work in progress.

so with that thinking we should also drop Tommy, seeing as he also lost the ball over the line, fair enough he did managae to touch it down but that could have also cost us the game, on a dry mud less night that would have been a try for Gelling IMO

You're probably right but Raynor has the experience Gelling lacks. Come back in 2 years because if Gelling sticks with it he could be brilliant, much better than Raynor's ever been.

| gelling is certainly not a winger , IMO King should be given the opportunity to see what he can offer, as he is an out and out winger .

Some of us don't have the salary cap "flexibility" to sign ready made superstars all the time. You wouldn't know anything about this, but some of us actually spend time developing raw talent.

How often did Raynor come inside looking for work? How many men did it take to put him down?
I can't believe I am even answering this! I am not saying Gelling was superb but he showed enough signs with his footwork, strength and pace to show that he could be a top player.
I see him at centre long term but I am not sure whether he can defend there. Centre is the hardest position to defence in terms of positioning your body.

| I thought the kid did ok , his aggressive running will probs make him a decent centre long term. It was quite hostile at POR last night and he coped a lot better than most of he cas players did.
As for raynor , this lad is and always has been a quality player and if gelling becomes half he player then he will do alright
