| Quote: Smurf "I really wish rugby league would be mentioned with Super League advertisements sometimes. I know I should simply be glad that the game is getting some good exposure, but when for example the Sky Sports News presenters say '...and now to Super League' they could be talking about anything as far as the neutral sports fan is concerned.
Still, an excellent idea and I'm delighted that we have a sponsor who can offer something more than just sponsorship money.'"
Um Mate, The logo says super RUGBY league...
I get what you mean though, ice hockey and netballs top divison are both called 'Super League'

| The Wigan observer were expecting 300 trucks so it's disappointing to see the actual figure as 100.
I've got to admit I feel this is a gamble turning down £750,000 per season from betfred to go with this deal.
Could we not have taken the cash and paid for a similar sort of deal with Stobart or elsewhere and still had change left over? I ask that but I literally don't have the first idea how much these sort if things cost.

My main concern is also where these trucks will be used, If for instance they are to be used on routes across the north west of england it would be a waste of time.
it seems as if both "companies" are giving each other free exposure without money being involved. I really hope the RFL have something to fall back in monetry terms. Maybe Heinz BIG soup and various other companys being able to pay for bits of exposure. Just read an article on the bbc website claiming Engage paid 1m a year for exlusivity. If stobart havent paid for that sort of deal then i would hope someone else can also get involved.
The rfl seem to be making this deal sound like its worth money because of the exposure Stobart will be giving us in return. but 100 trucks out of over 2000 doesn't sound as good as it could be.

Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36121.jpg |

| Be interesting how they represent the brand; will we get Eddie the Super League Scania pulling onto the pitch before a game?

Perhaps not. Hardly suprising, given the fact that they were paying the game to promote them; which crudely speaking is basically how sponsorship works.

| Don't understand why its is no good just going around the NW?
If every week Wigan get 24,000 on, Saints 17,500 on, Wire 15,000 and Widnes and Salford 12,000 on then its working. Let the game boom in Lancs, Yorks, and Cumbria then move elsewhere

| I dont know how the RFL turned down Betfair for Eddie Stobart. Betfair is the biggest online bookmaker in the UK and the biggest betting exchange in the world. Millions of people worldwide would see the Super league name on Betfair and to boot they are people already interested in sport!
Instead we like the idea of players faces on trucks driving around the country cutting people up

But would Betfair have splashed Rugby league adverts all over their site, minimising their profit from other adverts for free? Betfair could have just been offering £750k to the RFL with nothing back in return like engage, they would have paid to advertise their own company, not promote rugby league.
With the stobart deal, if more people tune in to see a match and then start going to games, all because they saw the truck somewhere, then it'll eventually get some more money for clubs that they wouldn't have had. Seems like it makes sense, and could be beneficial for promotion.
RFL finally thinking outside the box to promote the game. Who knows, maybe if this works in promoting the game, then the next deal we get will include promoting the game [iand[/i a couple of million in the bank.

So basically the RFL have payed £750k for advertising on 100 lorries driving around the UK which they have no control over where they go?
Sounds like a great deal to me

| WW - Exactly. They'd have been better served getting the £750k off betfair, and putting that into other forms of national advertising.
Only problem I could see is that isn't advertising Gambling in France banned? I know alchohol and cigs are, thought gambling was as well?

i imagine advertising gamblings banned in France...didnt we have to remove totesport and mecca logos?
re which routes these trucks will be on.............as i type my sons doing his weekly round of Stobart depots checking on security...hes also under orders (from me) to interrogate the staff on where these trucks will be seen.

| The 100 stobart trucks will be few and far between on the motorways of Britain considering they have a fleet of 2250.
We should have taken the betfair money and used the St Helens route of plastering buses with pictures of superleague players and adverts for tickets.
We could have got 1000's of buses all over the shop in Wigan, St Helens, Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, Leeds, Hull, Bradford, Castleford, Widnes etc etc for less money i'd guess then we'd have recieved from Betfair.
The more I think of this deal the less I like it.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

This deal isn't about advertising in the heartlands, they already know about SL, it is up to you , the individual clubs to get them to support you
This is about increasing the TV audience, and ultimatley the amount of SKY money you recieve
