I love the car-parks in the retail and entertainment parks at Robin Park... YOU MUST PAY TO PARK? Why? BECAUSE THE CAR PARKS GET BUSY? How long's that set up been at Robin Park now? 10 years? I've NEVER seen any of the car parks full!

Wigan is a hell hole for parking now... Wife works in Grand Arcade and doesnt drive, so muggins here plays taxi, if she's late out because she's with a customer and I stopped and waited, i'd have to pay for an hour of parking to wait for 5 minutes. So, the only other option, I turn up late, she gets soaked in the rain, it causes an argument, we fall out... yarda yarda yarda.

As for me being in the do what I like brigade, as I said on the post on the sin bin I have no problem paying a fine if I had one.

However, please answer this question..... You return to your car to see a traffic warden issuing a ticket. You can either sit there for 5 mins while he issues the ticket and takes photos or simply drive off and the ticket is legally void.

Please bear in mind this is a hypothetical question as I'm sure judging by your morals you'd never over stay by 5 mins, drive at 31 in a 30 zone, watch a copied DVD or do anything slightly illegal.

the law is the law! only council officials and the police have the right to give out parking tickets, the rest as correctly stated are just invoices to the driver and unenforcable, you do not have to supply the name of the driver by law!
in real terms most of these so called parking tickets are a scam to make people pay excessive "fines" for parking on private land. the irony is there is ussually no way of actually paying. ie no meter or machine to retrieve a ticket to put on your car in the first place! so to answer your question. most people would buy a ticket to park if one were available!

to the original poster. don't pay it, don't communicate in any way with the sender of these bogus threat letters.

Assuming you were in the CMS carpark near Jamals & Cinema, it states on there pointing one way for Cinema Jamal etc, and the other for "Event & Match day Parking" which you have to pay for if there is a match or event on... However, you have to be aware that there is a match or event on as they dont tell you, and they'd have to prove that you were in there for the purpose of Event or Match day, rather than going into the Cinema, or having a meal, or going to the bingo...

If you had no problem paying it; you'd have paid it. It's that simple. You knowingly overstayed and then asked if you could get away with it. Your only counter to that was that the ticket hadn't yet been issued, maybe then your suggesting all wardens should be more eagle eyed and ensure they ticket you the second you go over your allotted time?

Either way you didn't pay it and then asked if you could get away with it on an internet forum, to which you were largely told how low of moral value you are (does this not tell you something, rather than claiming that the posters on the sin bin are all on a high horse).

It's simple really. If you park somewhere you park within those restrictions and you should be fine (if you do and you get ticketed anyway by a private business (like the OP) then obviously ignore it, I have little problem with that where shady business practice is concerned).

To continue along your logic; everyone should park where they like, say on double yellows on a busy main road, as it's closer to say, the local KFC, and it's perfectly ok so long as the warden doesn't have time to issue a ticket.

You really do seem to have a problem understanding others points don't you. I can't decide whether it's because you have nothing better to do than try to argue on an Internet forum or your just simple.

As I stated I over parked, no problem admitting that. Also no problem admitting it was wrong. If you had bothered Reading my posts properly you would have seen that.

I didn't complain (as you wrongly claimed). If a ticket had come I'd have paid it. Such is life. Sometimes things don't go to plan and take a little longer.

However, feel free to read this, see something that isn't there and make some wild claim or wrong assumptions..... It seems to be a habit of yours.

the only reason you had no ticket to pay was because you zoomed off before he could put it on your car, this is what i have gathered from your posts.

Which means that you are not only knowingly breaking the law on how long you can park in a certain area etc, but wanting to brag about it online, before being shot down by those on said forum for your lack of moral code etc.
