The worst grounds in rugby leagues top flight are now to be found in West Yorkshire. Headingley despite it's excellent atmosphere and aura of history is no better than Central Park or Knowsley Road - Odsal always has been and always will be a dump. Wakefield - words can't describe!!!!

But how much do you pay in rent each season for the privilege?
How much revenue do you lose to the Whelan empire every home game in the fans match day expenditure?

I would have thought that as a club that you would make more money long term if you actually owned your own stadium rather than renting?

I'd imagine that the Rhinos make a bigger profit than Wigan rugby league club do?

If the Rhinos do lose this test court case then RL as a whole is in the 5hit bigtime

As in someone pulled a figure out of their Iestyn 'Arris and claimed that that was how much they had to spend.

I know RL is in the fertiliser big time if the case is lost and that Leeds are the test case club.
The clubs who milked the system are in real trouble, however not all did and others did it in a very small way.
Leeds have always been considered the richest club in the league and may still be so. What is worrying for me is that if they are the richest and they can't afford to rebuild the S Stand then we are all in trouble.
Perhaps that is one of the problems of owning your own ground. You have to pay for all the bills whether they can be afforded or not.
Wigan's DW is owned by Whelco a company owned by Dave Whelan. No surprise there! One great benefit is that our local soccer outfit somehow remain the Premier League giving DW something like £43m a year before the turnstyles click. Wigan RL pay a rent to Whelco but don't have problems repairing or replacing parts of the stadium that may need maintenance.
I'd rather be in Wigan's place right now than Leeds. Trophies in the cabinet and the club in profit yet again under Ian Lenagan's ownership.

I have a recollection of DW saying that he would not do that in paying the players as it is timebomb waiting to happen. Maybe i got it wrong but if i have not then we know why were not doing it. If Leeds have paid players against the Spirit of the game should they be punished.
