| I predicted he would have a moan about this during the game. He was shaking his head as the player was down injured.
There was nothing wrong with it, just like there was nothing wrong with the two Lima tackles earlier in the season. Tackling around the legs is allowed, if the legs are in the wrong place and get into a funny position it is nobodys fault.
You wouldn't ban someone for breaking someones ribs by tackling them round the chest.

| Quote XBrettKennyX="XBrettKennyX"Criticising the tackle.
Was it really that bad/malicious?
Coley took his legs. Not really sure of the value of the comment here.'"
it doesnt look bad to the normal eye but it is a tackle that wigan have adopted which is a clear attack to the knee joint,a few weeks ago the exact same kind of tackle has left are own jacob emmitt out for between 6-8 weeks, its a very simalar scenario has the chicken wing tackle was to open up the shoulder joint and injure the player at the time it was aloud for a period of time before been made an illegal tackle due to the number of injuries to players.i can see this tackle been outlawed very soon and i understand why players and coaches get frustrated when a player gets injured and whilst its a legal tackle at the minute its the fact that some sides use it to injure players thats worrying in a game thats tough enough any way.
on a positive note it was a great game and the best team won.

You want to ban tackling round the legs
Top idea.

| If he wasn't so heavy, there probably wouldn't have been as much pressure on his joints to begin with. The tackle wasn't illegal, but then, neither were the ones that Lima got punished so harshly for earlier in the season.

| Called it at the time, "game changer" Wire where on top, we needed something and this tackle changed it. I could not go for various reasons but as soon as I saw Smith shaking his head it confirmed my feelings. We needed to stop him, as his short spell was having an impact. The tackle was legal as Coley hit around the thigh. It worked!

Maybe I have interprited your post wrong but IMO at the speed of a rugby league game there is no way that the legal tackle from Coley had any intent whatsoever to cause injury to Solomona..

| This constant carping of Wigan's tackling technique is getting boring!
For Gawd's sake Slobamona is so unfit he's probably had a bath lift fitted by Social Services to get him into the team bath
Pity the Wires fans didn't stay till the end .... they missed O'Loughlins try and the chance to thank their team for their CC exploits over the past two years. Silly me its only Wigan fans who do the "Walk" of course

Said he same thing myself. He was causing us problems and the injury slowed their momentum. We got a penalty just after and they never had the same level of continuous pressure again after that.
Watched the game back and I can't see too much wrong with the tackle. Mossop got him up top and Coley squeezed his legs together to stop him. Even Kear said nowt wrong with it. Just unfortunate for Solomona and wire and the change of momentum for us.
