ive been after the game for ages to be honest is it good or bad ive heard loadsa different tales ive had the last two and me and our kid spent hrs on them would buy it for 20 quid but dont fancy paying 40

RL2 is much much better than RL Live, it's pathetic.

this ^^^^^
i've still got my ps2 set up in my bed room, and the 2 rl titles are the only games i've got for that, the second one whilst far from a work of art, is very very good for the platform its on, the xbox version is gash tastic and a real let down, looks worse and plays worse. |

Just to chuck my twopenneth in...
Rugby League Live is spoiled by some amazingly obvious errors. For example, Super League players can't physically kick the ball far enough to either go into touch from the kick off or through the posts from a touchline conversion, wind assisted or not. 40-20s are ALMOST impossible for Super League players.
The online is ok if you're not playing against someone in Oz. The lag makes the game almost unplayable.
That said, the actual playmaking CAN be quite good. Against evenly matched teams, it can provide a real challenge requiring sensible tactics and passing to make progress. Defence is also good and well executed. The kicking interface is the best it's been in RL games so far, but still not up to the level of, say, EA's Rugby 2001.
Turn your "Controller Auto Off" OFF though... if you do leave the console for too long (say to make a brew or something), when you turn your controller back on you will no longer be able to sprint for the duration of the current match.
Whilst it's not really awful bad, it certainly belongs in the "Could be MUCH better" pool.
I'm keeping it to play online and earn the Platinum trophy, then I may trade it in in a year's time.
