Give over. Zara Phillips was brought up in a caravan in Grimsby.

| If we do the double next year, we'll be in with a shout.
I thought Wires fans believed they were a shoe-in for Team of the Year after their "back -to back" CC wins! What would they be saying if they won it 8 years in a row?!!

| I'm pretty certain Wigan won it in December 94 for their achievements that year ( We'd beaten Brisbane away to win the World Club Championship) as well as completing the League/Cup double for the 5th time.
Ironically, we hadn't done the Grand slam that 93 -94 "John Dorohay" season ( hammered by Castleford in the Regal Final), but we did it in 95 under Graeme West! No team of the Year in 95, though!

| Well done to the Ryder Cup team, but it's not really a team is it? Four days of golf where many individual scores are attached to a "team" scorecard. It's very different to a rugby or football team where co-operation between each team member is essential.
Golf is an independent team where matches are played by individuals or partners.
I suppose the winners of the BBC trophy will be whoever can give the BBC a good return. They hate RL, so it's a long shot.
I recall the England Rugby Onion lot winning it in 1993. They played 5 games that year. Won 3 and lost 2.
In that year 92/93 Wigan won League Championship , Challenge Cup , League Cup , Lancashire Cup.
Mind you, at this rate Blackpool FC could win Team of the Year !!

| Golf isn't even a sport. It's more of a pass time.

| RL will always be bottom of the list, if USA win the ryder cup, Australia win the ashes, the cyclists all get punctures, no football team wins the double or Champs League, then at best an RL team is an outside bet.
Didn’t the biased southern journalists used to ‘vote’ for this award? Does anyone know if this is still the case? If voted for by the general public then I still think RL teams would struggle against the above I’m sad to say.

Possibly the most difficult sport to master on the planet.
The skill levels of the top pro's is quite staggering.

Spot on. That and snooker are the most skilled sports there are imo.

Funny you should say that. I was in Riley's Pool hall last night having the same conversation with my mate.

| Golf and snooker are so difficult to master because you are hitting a stationary object, no reaction involved, very big mental side to both.

| Not so sure about the golf bias because when Saints won it they beat the victorious european ryder cup team of the time to the prize against all expectations.

I'm sure that there will have been a similar movement in golfing circles as well though so I wouldn't put down Saints winning that particular accolade (even though must of it could be put down to the power of RLFans!)
