| Is anyone starting to wonder if we might soon be approaching that dreaded stage where we have to release a youngster or two?
We'll get lambasted by the Great Unwashed of course, but at present we have a plethora of talented kids, and we surely can't offer first team contracts to them all.
What do we all think?

It's McIlorum and Prescott that are on similar deals and news may be out shortly regarding them.
Thought O'Carroll's deal is to 2011 and then an option.
Either way I can see them being with the club for many years.'"
It was Goulding, O'Carroll and McIlorum

I was told a long time ago that the club had taken out this option on Goulding and O'Carroll, not sure about McIlorum, so I am not surprised. The deadline for these options was a couple of months ago and if it wasnt taken out then the players were free to talk to other clubs. I dont understand why these deals are only just being release now though, Lenegan certainly does seem to like to keep news back for wharever reason.

It was from 2007 when Goulding, O'Carroll and McIlorum signed their deals.
You said McIlorum and Prescott were on similar deals and O'Carroll's deal was to 2011. I was giving you a link that showed who signed the same deal as Goulding.

In the backs we do not really have an issue at the moment out of the youth players it is only Ainscough who is not really getting a game. There is still alot of time for him as well. All the other backs, Charnley, Thornley etc are a while of the first team IMO.
In the pack it is another story. I think the club have got some tough decisions coming up.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.
Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

| Glad he's been kept, and a 12 month deal will keep him on his toes. Hopefully we'll see him improve and cement a longterm future at Wigan.
With so many young lads coming through from the under 20's and now Goulding being kept here for another 12 months I wonder whether Pryce will get a new deal?
There's nothing wrong with having great depth it's a real plus point for Wigan, but it's a fine balancing act to get the right mixture of depth and quality.

definately a better player than he was 12 month ago, imo they are keeping him around in case they can't get a replacement for Carmont in 2012, they will just hand him another contract, sort of like a safety net

| 12 months is right - gives him the incentive to earn another contract

| Quote: Famous "Not really. It is 12 months because he originally signed a contract for 2 years with an option for a 3rd year in the clubs favour. The club are merely exercising this option. Anything else would mean that the club would have to pay a bigger contract and that Goulding would be free to talk to other clubs and could potentially leave. If I recall correctly McIlorum and O'Carroll are on similar deals so if they are staying then something should be announced soon too.'"
Ah, an extension I understand, I thought it was a new deal from the OP.

| Nice to see another academy player getting a longer contract with us. It's all up to him to prove her merits a longer deal now.

| I'm happy with Daz being around in the squad. He won't win Grand Finals for you but he can step in pretty much anywhere along the three-quarters and you know he'll give 100% and won't let you down

| Isnt Goulding a specialist centre? If so do you think he is being built up as a long term replacement for Carmont or Gleeson?

Any winger that can find the line on a regular occasion can win matches for you. Finals included.
Deserves another 12 months, hes put loads of hard work in as Maguire has stated on a few occasions.
Amber will be pleased!
