Quote Grego="Grego"Just got back from the airshow, it was great. Last chance to see the Vulcan fly at one of those i think though unfortunately (as hogan says) as it costs about £1.5 million a year to keep it up there. A great shame imo as it is fantastic to watch at low level. Like you say, a very loud aircraft, although the Typhoon trumped it on that card. Bloody deafening that thing is and extreemely impressive to watch. Will post one or two picks from my phone when i get a chance.'"
I was once on the forecastle (pointy end) of HMS Richmond up in Scotland.
We were up in Loch Fyne doing some trials.
I was having a crafty fag in front of the gun so the bridge could not see me and all of a sudden the was a load ROAR!!!!!!!!!! like i have never heard before. I honesly thought it was an explosion and i hit the deck like Jon wilkin after a slap from Keith Senior. The cigarette (still in mouth) now resembled an acordian hanging out my mouth.
It was a Typoon doing very low level flying (about 200 ft so i am led to beleive) right over the top of us. It scared the be-jesus out of me i tell you.
When i stood up i noticed that everyone around (about 20 blokes) were scattered all over the shop!. The pilot obviously spotted us and thought he would have some fun.
loud is not the word for those things
