It doesn't, hence my initial reply to them
But wigan (Leneghan) owe Leneghan holdings 5.9million (approx)
St helens on the other hand (no idea if the troll is a latics/saints fan, but there pretty much the same thing at times) owe their parent company 20million approx
Just short of a million mote than the previous year.
Nobody likes losing money (on average about half a million a year last 4/5years) but there are mitigating factors in that, there are some issues.
But its nice to be able to have an owner who doesn't seem in too much of a rush to release control whilst still investing in the club and keeping us at the top of British rugby league. Whilst at the same time having the knowledge that there would be lots of interested parties with SERIOUS interest in purchasing the club should/when he decides to move on.
I bet other sporting clubs would love that

| How many times have you seen a rumour or story strongly denied only for it to turn out to be true?
There comes a time in everyones life that you have to wind down and enjoy retirement without any financial worries and IL at 75 years of age is no exception.
As the saying goes, there's no smoke without fire!

The concern is of course that IL decides to do what Latics owners did and stop signing the cheques and those losses then become debts. Aside from the Aussie experiment that doesn't really spell disaster (unless he then says we owe him that £5m) we would simply need to cut our cloth somewhere (staff presumably) or perhaps get more vigourous with our sponsors in terms of costs.
What happens at football clubs is that the losses are usually well into the millions and it becomes crippling if the owner has had enough or decides he wants his investment back. The policy of transfers being done "on credit" doesn't help either.

All fair points
And I know you are already aware of this, just for the benefit of certain others who WANT wigan rlfc to fail and can't get past their wigan green eyed envy and including those that continually criticise IFL for having short arms and deep pockets despite FACTS to the contrary, thats no different than nearly every club.

Exactly as I said earlier in the thread when it was mentioned that we rely on a sugar daddy. Find me a sporting club that doesn't.

Full? FULL?? The tics have never filled anything!!!
...Yes sadly there are still too many bitter and obsessed tics in the town, but thankfully they remain a noisy, whilst annoying, minority!

5 million over more than ten seasons is very little. The tics were hemorrhaging that sort of money over a 3-4 month period before being placed in administration. Over a million quid a month lost to that black hole......as you say, how they would love to be in the position of wigan, minor losses and lots of serious interest to purchase the club when he moves on....not just chancers and dreamers like the tics administrators have dealt with for the last 9 months!!

Well, that may not 100% be accurate
The admins have no-one but themselves to blame over the last 8months for many reasons.
When I say themselves to blame, I'm not sure they'll be blaming anyone when they eventually walk away this summer (my guess) with approx 2.5million in their back pocket
But that's a different story

You chose an article from 2019 describing accounts from 2017 to make your point. Really? Come on buddy you’ve got to do better than that

Latics could have probably paid off their debts in the next transfer window with a few player sales as they did most seasons. Their owners had already pulled the plug though and of course the admins saw the pound signs, and now they have been ripped apart.
Most clubs in the top two divisions lose millions a month because of the ridiculously high wages. If you decide not to pay the wages you simply can't compete. If you're lucky enough to make the PL then it all becomes worth it, but if you don't then you end up in serious trouble like Latics, Sunderland, Derby, Sheff Weds. They brought in FFP but it's a farce. If you go up then you can't be punished (Wolves and QPR) for it. If you don't go up then just fudge your books (Sheff Weds and Derby) and you effectively get away with it. Leagues 1 and 2 tried to fix it with a salary cap but brought it in illegally. Makes our salary cap look a stroke of genius. The whole sport is a ticking time bomb.

I agree. You may not like Latics but you’ve got to feel for their fans. These admins are nothing short of criminal and it looks like to me it’s only a matter of time before they go out of business. IMHO Wigan needs Latics as much as it needs Warriors.
But your sadly very right with the last sentence, there’s many other Latics’ out there and it’s a matter of time before they too are staring into the abyss.

There won't be many clubs in the whole football league that will survive for very long if the owner walks away today. So the situation at Wigan is no different to any other club in any other sport.

I've seen it already.
"We have had positive talks with [insert inflated number] bidders who are all at different stages of the process.
[Insert self promotion bull]
We will keep fans updated with more lies and propoganda soon as we get paid every time we do."
