| Great game on a beautiful day. The result wasnt what i wanted but another reason why Saints/Wigan is the best derby.
In the Anvil before the game there was Saints and Wigan fans chatting like always, plenty of friendly banter flying around and a good time being had by all. Walking to the North Stand and passing round the back of the East there were no comments made by any Wigan fans.
Inside the ground was a brilliant atmosphere with chants going back and forth between the fans (yours were IMO a little quiet at times but maybe i couldnt hear them properly). Still the atmosphere was brilliant, sounded like there was more than 24,000 in there at times.
After the game walking back over the bridge there were a few comments made but nothing malicious, just trying to wind some of our more volatile fans up. I heard a discussion about whose chairman has the most money too that made me laugh.
Despite the result it was a good day and the fans i think now (without some admitting it) have a mutual respect for each others team?

| Quote: SaintsFan "That would be disappointment at losing that you saw. But no-one would have been disappointed at the effort our players put in or at the realisation that for all Wigan are last year's champions, you had to rely upon a try from a forward pass and a literal last minute piece of footwork to win the match against a patched up side that lost two crucial players in the first half.
I know that if I was a Wigan fan just now while I would be delighted to get the win, I would be concerned that Wigan hadn't taken Saints apart under those circumstances.
You don't look like champions; you haven't looked like champions all season. We don't look like champions either but from a Saints' fan's POV, we are doing 100% better than we thought we would, even without half our first team playing. And we are playing the style of rugby league that all Saints fans long to see.
A win would have been great, and would have been deserved. We didn't get that. We were, and still are, disappointed. But whereas you can look at a team that hasn't come anywhere close to the form of last season so far, we can look at a team that - if it can only be kept on the park long enough - could beat anyone out there and in a style that has any Saints fan grinning with happiness. Our hope for the future is not about next season; it's about this season. We can see what we have in our team, how good it is. Our fear is that the team will never be fit enough to see that potential through this season.'"
1) You Lost.
2) We didn't win because of a forward pass. If you take those 4 points away we still drew unless all our other points don't count either because they're against your precious Saints. That's before we even get to the points you scored that shouldn't have been. You can "woulda, coulda, shoulda" all you like but in the end it comes back to point 1.
3) As you so rightly say we haven't hit the championship form of last year so far. As you say; "so far". This is the same squad as last year, minus Gleeson/Feka but with the addition of two former kangeroos, a NRL grand final winner and SOO player and soon, GB International Hock. What makes you think it will be unable to recapture the form that destroyed you in last year's GF (except from your ridiculous one-eyed view that everything outside the super-dooper Saints is somehow, by definition, flawed)? Any rational analysis would suggest otherwise. Indeed if memory serves we drew at Cardiff (and should have won with half our team missing, something you seem to be keen on putting forward when it suits you) and, as for Friday, well....see point 1.
4) Enjoy the style of rugby that all Saints fans enjoy. By that I mean the one that took you to..well see point 1
5) As you say, you don't look like champions either at this stage of the season. In fact no-one in SL does yet. There are teams that you would expect to be there or therabouts come the playoffs, but that's as far as it goes. If we're looking at where both teams are at THIS stage of the season...well, see point 1.
6) Just in case you're still in any doubts about anything else...see point 1

| Quote: SaintsFan "But did you lose a halfback and your fullback during the first half [ias well[/i? No. THAT was the difference for us. With Wheeler and Wellens on the pitch, we wouldn't be having this conversation because you would be crying in your beer instead of us. We were all over you until Wheeler was dispatched by Hoffman and we lost Wello to an ankle injury. All over you. We were totally in charge. You couldn't live with us. And any Wigan fan with half a brain knows just how lucky you were to win yesterday. By a try from a forward pass.'"
Dear God! I came off your board (despite there being many good and interesting posters over there) to get away from this ridiculous claptrap and now I have to suffer it on our own board.
By the way, only one-eyed Saints fans think we were lucky to win. I thought it was a great game that could have gone either way and that the team that played for 80 mins rather than 76 deservedly won. Indeed, that was the reality of the game, despite your bleatings about forward passes and injustices. You really are the most pathetic type of poster that these boards sometimes produce: a revisionist who believes their own delusions. Enjoy the match and be satisfied with the excellent performance your team put in but, for all that's holy, retain a LITTLE dignity in defeat. Your own 19-year-old winger managed it seconds after suffering what must have been a heartbreaking defeat. You still can't manage it several days later.
BTW could you give me this weeks winning lottery numbers please as, in addition to your wonderful analytical powers ( ) you can obviously see into the future now.

| Quote: SLIMply the best "i don't deny that the pre match atmosphere may well have been different! however the implication that all warrington fans go out to make it that way is a sweeping (hence the brush!) generalisation. now your either being deliberately obtuse or you know full well that was the point i was making and you chose to deflect from that with some childish emicoms! well played to coin your phrase!
i'm glad you had a love in with the stains fans, let's see what happens when you lose to them?
The point is that SHE not everyone would have felt intimidated if it was wire and i can see why we never have trouble at saints games we never fail to at a wire game. It's notthat all wire fans are trouble just there's a greater amount than there are trouble saints fans and slim in all your crazy stats and rubbish arguments that isn't really something you can deny. Because after the wire game this was full of stories about wire hooliganism but there's no stories about saints thus far. I'd say that's fair reasoning for her argument am I right?

True. I forgot you didn't convert the forward pass try. Pat Richards isn't perfect after all. Either way, that forward pass decided the outcome of the game. Had you not been awarded that try, and you should not have been, we would have gained a point from that match and you would not have won. But more to the point is that forward passes should be called, no matter who performs them, especially on the way to the tryline because the outcome of the game could depend upon them.

Nobody said that Pat Richards was perfect. White Line Painter head missed one too... Pat was Still Man of Steel for 2010, and highest points scorer. Watch the match again... One of SAINTS trys was from a Forward Pass. So we still got a 4 point lead.
While we're on it, your boys need to keep their arms down, got off very lightly on some of those tackles. And that's just as bad in your 20s squad. Too many high tackles in the 20s game on Saturday!
I actually think you're the fans equivilent to Thierry Alibert. In short, you dont know what you're talking about. Though i think secretly, you may be a Wigan fan, you seem to spend so much time over here. Why not hop over to your own board for a bit while we mop the drivel that comes from you off the floor.

| wigan were lucky to win --- rubbish you play for 80 mins... wigan showed determination....
how many times have saints won at the death... now the boot is on the other foot you cant swallow it.... and look for any excuses
as for wigan we have not hit top form so far this season so when we do and do it with consistency no one would be able to live with us
as for saints saying they are not bothered/putting on a brave face they were gutted at this loss
because it was wigan who beat them...any other team and then they can say they are not bothered...
just looking at their faces on tv told the story.......
