| Quote Ruddy Duck="Ruddy Duck"With the exception of Lee Briers replacing John Winder and the departure of Lam, many supporters will have noticed that the coaching team is more or less the same one which has been there for the past few seasons since Maguire left.
The proof of the pudding of any improvement will be in increased attendances, results, standard of play and above all, a return to the winning of trophies for which Wigan has been renowned over the years.
The pressure is now on Matty Peet and his coaching team!'"
On the contrary, I don’t see much pressure other than a few disgruntled fans. All he needs to do is improve on last season, which with a point per game average as low as ours isn’t going to be too difficult. Most common sense and level headed Wigan fans will tell you that the squad we have assembled for 2022 isn’t a title or trophy winning squad so expectations in that regard are almost non existent. The year after remains to be seen but that’s when I’d expect us to be realistically challenging again. I am more than happy to be proved wrong on that obviously.
The coaching team is completely different from when Mags left and you know it. That’s an outrageous lie Ruddy. The sole survivor from Mags’ coaching team is Wane. Peet was working in the youth system and had nothing to do with seniors. Even for you that’s an outrageous and blatant lie.
Quote Ruddy Duck="Ruddy Duck"The masterstroke by IL and KR has been to get Sean Wane to return to the club!
We can only hope that things return to normal as a result of the decision!'"
Wane isn’t in charge. Peet is. I can already see what line you’re going to take even if Peet leads us to a clean sweep of everything. Give it a rest.

I am well aware that apart from Wane, the 'new' coaching team were not members of the coaching team when Maguire left, but the fact remains that with the exception of Briers replacing Winder, the new coaching team with the exception of Wane, but including Peet and O'Loughlin were members of last season's coaching team under Lam.
And I have never said that Wane is in charge of the 'new' coaching team, only that it is a masterstroke on the part of Lenagan and Radlinski to get Wane to return to the club in whatever capacity they see him doing a useful job for the club.
And as I have also said previously, hopefully, the 'new' coaching team will improve results, return the squad to the level that supporters expect and win trophies again .
Hope that clarifies what I said.

It does. Still doesn’t change you said it was the same coaching team as when Maguire was here.
And I couldn’t agree more with your last sentence.

| I don’t know it has been mentioned anywhere but I’ve only just seen it mentioned for the first time that Peet has signed a three year contract. It is hidden in the middle of an article with Peet in the Wigan Post. That’s good backing for him and I’m pleased we’re not just going year to year. The club needs to start looking forward with long term certainty and stability.

I agree we need that stability and that contract gives Peet a chance to make improvements over a period of time. However we have to be strong enough to bite the bullet if we need to (and I really hope it doesn’t come to that). We weren’t when it came to Lam and it set us back further IMO. If IFL/KR knew Peet was going to take charge, and was already at the club, it just provides more mystery as to why Lam wasn’t sacked and replaced with Peet, even if the coaching staff appointments didn’t immediately follow.

| With the financial state of the club over the the last couple of years or so due to the Pandemic and a reported seasons lost of over £400.000, I would have thought it was obvivous why the club did not sack him during his period of contract.
'
Far cheaper to allow a person to play out his contract without possible compensation and also not pay out an additional contract to another person to replace him in the circumstances.
Wigan Warriors are not a Football Club!

| Warrington let their coaches contract run down, Saints did the same but Woolf had the 3rd year option in his favour.
How much do you think they, along with Leeds lost last year?

| Quote jaws1="jaws1"Having watched Mat Peet interview on Wigan TV he comes over as confident person. He wants to get the best out of players if he thinks they are slacking he said that they will told they have to improve. He did say if they dont want to wear the Wigan shirt with pride then they will be shown the door .He wants to integrate more with the Wigan public both on and off the field .He has inherited a lot of Wanes attitude and it was him who wanted Lee Briars as coach having worked with at International colts level.in ILs he is hailing the coaching set up as a new venture there are no backs coach and forwards coach both Lockers and Briers are both assistants and will be picking the team together.'"
Why hasn’t he stepped in the last few years if people have been slacking? He’s been in a fairly senior position so what’s stopped him?
Briers and Lockers picking the team? Where has that been said?

Maybe he did step in and the head coach ignored him?
