don't speak for ALL opposition fans mate
I don't have any problem with Sams' gesture - that's just immaturity,he will get over it - with Hock it's in his Psyche to sometimes show his nasty side - it's a pity cos' it's dragging down the clubs' reputation as Bobby D said

I think you'll find that Sams V was seen by the largest tv audience this sport will get this season..on its biggest stage.. infront of many families..thats why it was such big news.If it had been today on sky then only actual RL fans who watched the game would be complaining (as we are still a minority sport) that is why it got full scale media coverage last week. People have said it just one of those things and it happens in football BUT we all support a totally different sport where you CAN stand next to opposition fans without the fear of fighting, where after being tackled players dont roll over 4/5 times playacting AND MOST IMPORTANTLY where 13-18 stone men take notice and directions from a 10/11 stone (weakling) called a ref and obey him with..YES SIR>>NO SIR.. whereas in football 9-11 stone weaklings slag the ref off..

Somehow, it seems that fans of other clubs see Madge as a disgrace. Now could this be that in the space of a year he managed to transform a top 4 club into a Championship side? In the second year took the same club to Challenge Cup Victory.
Madge has a hard work ethic, the Wigan side no longer go to play and prance around the field like a bunch of jokers, they get up in the morning and go to work. Maybe they're not donning suits or picking up hammers and screw drivers, but they are going to work. This could not be said of the Wigan of a few years ago. Madge expects his team to put in 100% into every game, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The third man in is an effective tackle that is not intended to, nor does it, cause injury to other players if done properly, and if everything goes according to plan. BUT, on occasion targetted players move into a different position, twist or dip at the last second and, once committed, there is nothing that the tackler can do about that. (i'm guessing you're still being y about Fat Dave's Knee Sprain).
Does Madge condone or defend Sam sticking two's up to the Leeds fans? Probably not. He can probably see why he did it, but wouldn't spur him on with a "well in Sammy, give it to the yorkshire dirtbags".
Does or Will Madge condone or defend Gaz Hock's indiscrimination today? I strongly doubt it.
If you look at recent Disciplinary for Harrison Hansen rlhttp://therfl.co.uk/disciplinary/item?3129rl, you'll see thisMr Maguire encourages his players to ensure the safety of opponents'"
I saw plenty of dodgy tackles from Wire today that could've caused potential injury to Wigan players, and that is not the first instance. So should Tony Smith sod off back to Oz too? While we're at it, let's get rid of Mick Potter, cos Bradford are a dirty side. How about getting rid of Royce Simmons too, because Saints have some questionable tactics this season.
As for Waney "influencing the ref", were you joining in Wiggy's Jizz Fest as well? Waney noticed the penalty count and went to ask Silverwood "We're struggling on that one, where can we improve to reduce the penalty count", for you to suggest that Waney somehow went to rough talk or pay off Silverwood is slanderous!
About time you wound your neck in and thought about getting your own house in order before critisising others. Hock was out of order, Wigan Fans and Club will all say the same, simple as.
Up until I saw your postings I was happy to admit defeat, as Wigan didnt bring it to the park today, but from that, Warrington kicking out in tackles, elbows in etc etc, all not picked up by the ref. Wigan were robbed, of tickets, and of decisions.
Now go play with yer tonka toys, adults are talking.

| Not at all surprised to see the faux-humility that Hock showed to weasel his way back into the game well and truly out the window; he's now back to the same brand of vicious thuggery he was known for prior to his drugs ban. This was one of the worst assaults on a fellow professional I've seen so far this season - the disciplinary *should* throw the book at him.
Thought Wigan played the game in a generally poor spirit today - Lima's hair-pulling, Tomkins S kicking Clarke in the face as he scored a try, Tomkins J too busy squaring up to someone to defend a try, Tomkins S giving the ref the hairdryer treatment (again) etc etc.
I think your side are coached with a win at all costs mentality and as a neutral, it's very ugly to watch - it's a shame really, given the undoubted talent of some of your players. Hopefully, Maguire will take it back to Aus with him and you'll be a bit more of a sportsmanlike outfit to watch. As it stands, for the neutral, Warrington are a better prospect in terms of playing the game in the correct spirit.

Oh right, well I'm all for us changing the style of play that has won us 3 trophies just so Wakefield fans are happy, god forbid they prefer Warrington.

| I do not think he intentionally put his hand in the position to attack the eyes, but once his hand ended up there he certainly made a grab at the eyes, very sill boy. Will pick up a couple of games at least which from out point of view is a shame as he is showing excellent potential in the Prop role. Will be a cracking replacement long term for Coley I think.

| Very silly think to do and I expect that will be the end of Gareth Hock's season. As mentioned above I don't think he intended to do it, but then when his hand was all over Harrison's face he did the unthinkable. Idiot really.
Shame because I thought apart from that Gareth Hock was our best player today and caused Warrington the most problems.

| Hocks season is over he wont play in the playoffs unless someone gets injured and does not get banned.
He actually played well i thought today but ultimately proved he is still the liability he always was with his utterly stupid behaviour.
He can change a game with his offloads but i just do not think it suits the way we play these days, we like to play with structure not off the cuff panic offloads. Id sooner have other players in the 17.
Hopefully see you next year Gaz on the back of a full pre season.

That's how I saw the incident on first viewing but I would like to see it again. In Rugby wheather that be League or Union eye gouging is pretty much as low as you can get but I got the sense he was giving Harrison a facial and it went abit wrong.
If the disciplinary see it as accidental (as if like to think it was but I'm not sure) then it's still reckless and he should get 2 games IMO. If they see it as a purposeful gouge then he should get 5-8 games IMO. It's that serious in all honesty.
I think one thing I take out of this thread is that Wigan fans speak honestly and unlike a lot of other fans don't always keep their club coloured specs on. The very vast majority would back a long ban if the RFL see fit.
I'm not sure if the boot was on the other foot we could say the same ( I await to get shot down by the same people that would make nothing of it if one of their players did it).

| Didn't see it from the back of the away end and haven't watched the game back yet, but judging by what's been said by some of the more credible posters on here it looks pretty damning.
No call for that at all.

i think its going to be difficult to NOT make a case for this being the charge.
his hand did end up on his head in the tackle... but he then reached for the eyes and tried to dig his fingers in.
i don't think anyone can argue with that.
