| Quote: tigertot "But club RU doesn't, in fact I believe RL gets much better TV figures for its club matches on Sky. Sponsors tend to pump money where their market group is. Football is slightly different due to its enourmous world wide appeal, but they don't attract the likes of Hackett, Jaeger-le Coultre, Verve Clicquat, Hello, Pimms, Gaucho, Barbour etc as polo does. When, literally, one man & his bichon frise watch polo it does beg the question as to why.'"
Exactly, stop talking sense now you are only confusing matters
BTW isn't this the point you made first time around?

I quite like the way you came on here with a semblance of wanting to talk RL but reverted suspiciously quickly to taking the mickey out of Wiganers. That wasn't particularly clever either. More of a cliche, I'd say.

Please don't be so sensitive and re read my original posts.
I happened to agree with a train of thought put forward by tigertot, one that was harshly dismissed by XBrettKennyX as utter tripe who thermn suggested on a thread about attendances between RL and RU, that it isn't about attendances and what about polo and football.....or words to that effect.
If you do take the opportunity of re reading, you might also note the use of some which was written in bold so as not to antagonise or generalise about Wiganers.
I thought that it is a valid topic to contribute on as it effects the well being of the game as whole.

| Big RU games are events - places to see and be seen. The product on the pitch is of secondary importance frankly. Do people shell out 100 quid a ticket to go and queue for 6 hours to see Madonna or Elton John because they want to hear great music? Of course not.
I've been to 2 RU games (at Harlequins and Northampton) and to me it seemed as though the actual game was just an inconvenient interruption to the actual days' business of standing around in the concourses or around the refreshment tents chatting to friends and colleagues - there was certainly far more noise from the stands before the game and at half-time than ever happened during the 80 minutes. You can't compare support for the 2 games at all - RL is a great underground indie band and RU is JLS. I know which I prefer to see but each to their own.

Which is why we attract the sponsorship that we do. It doesn't help when the BBC perpetuate that stereotype, deliberately IMO, with Ray French.

I would agree French is just one example of what I see as the dumbing down of our sport by the media. As I’ve said in an earlier post the BBC is expert at exaggerating the social gap between the followers of the respective sports. All though there are many working class fans who watch football because of footballs standing in sporting terms in the country, the BBC would not dare to treat it in the same manner as our sport. RU is given the full manicure and facial, while all our sport is seen as too much of a threat, so receives a televisual urinating on! RU is "The chaps" RL is for oicks. "Downton Abbey lives on"

Exactly. We're 3 weeks away from the start of the season. Remind me again who the title sponsors are...?

I've put a proposal together with my wife. Basically I've promised to write "Kevin Sinfield" and "Super League" in the dirt on the side of our cars in return for Super League being rebranded to "Pemps Super League". It's now between me and Microsoft who've offered a £12m 5 year deal. I've taken Nigel Woods to Pepper Lane Chippy though. It's as good as mine.

| 5673 watching Saracens today, at least that's more than their last home game (4572). So let's not throw ourselves off that cliff just yet.

Today was a nothing game for Saracens though I think and with the weather in London as it is I'm surprised they got that many. What's their average?
Leicester seem to have pretty much a full house for their do-or-die game in the snow.
