36409_1319997811.jpg A purple patch inspired on his home ground by man of the match WIGAN CAPTAIN Sean O’Loughlin produced three tries in an eight-minute spell just before half-time, and the GB Lions added two more after the break to maintain Smith’s 100 per cent record as Great Britain
coach.

33718_1325770967.jpg Games as big as Grand Finals define individuals and clubs. Remember, we only rent these journeys. In my time I had Pat Richard's shirt. Ellery Hanley had Sean O'Loughlin's jersey. Sam Tomkins is wearing Radders' number one jersey. Andy Coley is wearing Shaun Wayne's jersey. You have to make a mark in these shirts before you hand it down to someone else. Hand it back. So be aware for 80 minutes that you are not only playing, but you are also writing history and creating legacy. How many people actually write history - not many? A big stage demands big players…..INSPIRE YOUR TEAM MATES.

47600_1370068151.jpg The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollocking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47600.jpg |

12150.jpg It's just WIGAN, nothing else. Get rid of that stupid nickname.:12150.jpg |

What a picture! Misty eyes now...
Agree it's Mac, but not sure about others...you could be right.
But I am thinking it could possibly be later, and I don't think 11 is Collier. Could it be Lyon, from the sort of 'stooped' shoulders, or maybe even Tony Stephens?
4 alternative, possibly Jeff Bootle?
Maybe the pic is in a book that gives a date clue or something.
2012 kit is excellent, best since this pic was taken...!

Thats why I'm thinking it was around 1965 and 11 could have been Gilfedder, although he was primarily a lose forward at Wigan, so Tony Stephens is a good shout.

In the 1965/66 season, Tony Stephens played nearly all his games in the 11 shirt, Gilfedder wore 11 once, he was mainly 12 or 13.
ps.........if you look toward the pitch ahead of the players, is that the C Cup being held up by someone, if so, could it be the first home game of the 1965/66 season after we beat Hunslet in 65 ?

| I love the new home shirt, best one for a number of years. For the away shirt I'd either have Blue and Black, or Black and Cherry hoops.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

I think Mac looks more like he did in 65/66 than 61 and Sullivan had left by then, great photo though, great memories.
