I stand corrected then..... either way, I think we can mark tomorrow up as the first Leigh victory over Wigan in many years icon_smile.gif

Quote: hatty "Now the dust has settled and i've vetted my anger on next door neighbours cat i can now state that i will be attending the game tomorrow, yeah its £14 to watch my team field a complete reserve team but............
its a game of rugby league, a game that i've watched for 35yrs and will continue to do for the next however many years. I used to have sleepless nights before a game when i was younger and cry if the result went against us. Countless are the number of times that my sunday tea wasn't eaten because losing felt like the end of the world.
How many times have we all scored the winning try at wembley, but always the bell for the next lesson or the alarm clock awoke you as you touched down. Rugby league runs through my veins, i still have the same passion now as i did when i was an 8yr old lad, a lad who would put on his wigan shirt at 9am for a match that only kicked off at 3pm because he couldn't wait to get to central park to see his team play.
Yeah its £14 , yeah its a team of reserves.....but its an opportunity to once again feel that pride & passion that comes with seeing my team play the greatest game of all.....rugby league

Thats my battle cry overwith

Quite possibly but don't get carried away. That is a rapid back line and you won't get much change from that starting pack.

Because it is for a friendly game that will have a small attendance and ample opportunity to pay on the gate for all areas, the possibility of a weakened team being played and no financial incentive to pay in advance.

Not sure you will be able to 'pay on the gate'. Policy at LSV has been to queue at the ticket office to buy a ticket.

Quote: MattyB "Link please.'"

There's nothing to link to. I was referring to the agreement twelve months ago, where I believe Wigan were committed to 'fielding their strongest team available' for the three years the friendly was to be played. Of course, it could be argued that the young side is 'the strongest available' tomorrow! icon_wink.gif I also received input for the programme, from your Media Manager, where he says that 'It is likely that this afternoon that Wigan will select a mixture of First Team and Reserve Grade players for the game'.

Come along and buy a programme (please) and read it for yourself. icon_wink.gif

I think this is another fantastic idea from the club and Mike MaGuire.

A 'take a look at where you could be playing' if you don't make it at Wigan exercise. Goes very well with the work experience they will all have gained and should motivate the lads more to make it into the first team.

I for one applaud the decision eusa_clap.gif icon_wink.gif

Quote: Scooter Nik "As a Leyther, I object to the 'its an academy game' mindset on here. This is going to be close on Leighs first team that will be playing. OK, so we're not an SL side, but we're a damn sight better than an academy team. What do you pay for a normal game at the piedome? £20? And £3 to watch the academy? £14 is somewhere in the middle and about right IMHO'"

We'll see if thats right tomorrow wont we......to be perfectly honest i think you'll be eating your words cos i've got a feeling even our reserve team is 8-16 points better than you icon_wink.gif

Unforunately Joe is injured. I agree with Rogues, this Wigan team has got talent. They blitzed a reasonably experienced Saints reserve side in the reserve grade grand final. They have also been through a real tough pre season as if they were first team regulars. They have something to prove. Contrast this with a second rate team such as Leigh many players in their team would play anywhere they could get a contract.Don't forget Leigh were destined for NL2 until they got a late repreive by the very regime at the rugby league they were castigating the week previously for allowing a French team to remain in the league even though they new the rules beforehand. There are some tough kids in this Wigan team and I think this game will be really competitive and much closure than the Leythers think.

It took them a month to empty the bins in the priority area of central Wigan recently. That they neglect the lowest priority areas like Leigh is no great surprise.
