| Quote: Bostonslugholes "Well Id say he does the basics very well he takes the ball in hard achieves a quick play the ball more often than not, misses very few tackles and always seems to be helping the other forwards as the third man in when they are struggling with the wrestle. Ive seen the occasional decent offload to pop the backs through a gap so with further progress as he still has many years playing on his side he could be another Sean O'loughlin in 5 or 6 years time. Lets not forget Lockers was also just very good at doing the basics as a young gun and now he's the best forward in England. Players need time to mature their game sometimes and this can only come with game time where then confidence can thrive. Id say he's very lucky to have such a role model to learn his trade from there's probably no better forward to help progress his career with.
I think you should have started the post with the name or names of certain other front rowers as there's definitely far worse and less hard working forwards than Burke at this club.'"
Good response to a pointless thread. The Matty Smith thread kicked off because he's a senior player and had a terrible game against Widnes. If you're going to apply the same mentality to the whole squad, regardless of experience, game time or anything else, you might as well start another 16 simultaneous threads with "is ______ good enough for Wigan?"
That's not a serious suggestion by the way....

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

"F*cking hard mate"
Queensland great Sam Backo live on telly to nine's Tim Sheridan after being named man of the match in a state of origin game in 1988.: |

| Yes I agree with you both. Pacific obviously has an ulterior motive for singling out Burke because as far as Im concerned he's worked hard with and for the team in the past few games and done a lot of the gritty stuff that go's unnoticed every team needs one of them especially in the middle of the park so it's good to see that not all people are SHEEP.
Pacific your BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRD!

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| He needs a good run in the team before anyone can judge him in my opinion. At the minute I'm glad to have him as a squad player but I'm unsure whether he's a future prop or second rower, Liam Farrell or John Batemand will surely be the long term 13.
What position do people see him playing long term?

| Pacific's poor attempts at trying to wind people up on here and the Leeds board are starting to get a bit tiresome.
No wonder the MEN got rid.

I agree with all that. I don't know what Burke has done wrong either. In fact he seems to have a good start back at Wigan. Don't think he missed a tackle in the time he was on v Widnes unlike a few others for example.

| Didn't Burke suffer injury problems at Hull KR meaning he missed a good chunk of the season? I'd say he's done okay. He's finding his way back into the squad fine.

He got hurt playing v Wigan at the DW last season.
Is he good enough?
Well yes, that's why he's playing at the moment.
Would he be playing in a full strength Wigan side, probably not, but you can't have 25 International players in your squad.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| Burke was never going to live up to his immediate hype, of a few years ago, as the next SOL but I was worried for his development after couple of uninspiring loan periods. The last one had the fans comparing him very unfavourably with the other lad we loaned them. I was therefore surprised when Greenwood went and Burke stayed. On his return we have seen Burke do everything that we have asked of him. He isn't a blockbuster prop but he grafts away. He also has decent hands an has set up a couple of tries. Yes I would like to see a modern Quentin Pongia at Wigan but Burke is doing what is asked of him with competence.
