MOM but cost us tries, he has been a revalation at FB but it just worries me if he gets targeted.

I honestly wouldn't go back in for Briscoe, he wouldn't come cheap having moved from FC to KR at a time they were throwing it about.
I'd personally like to see Phelps continue with a view to bringing through Josh Vievers if he continues to develop.
Briscoe is 27 next year, and would want a decent term contract on good money even if he would come.
The last thing i'd want to see is Josh faced with the same situation Shaun was in just before he left Wigan.
I think we just need to accept the Briscoe boat sailed

| On the same note, it's why I don't want to see us going for a big money 7, i'd rather persist with TL playing alongside Sam, with a view to introducing Joe Mellor.

IL seems to share the same way of thinking. He said on the radio last night about not wanting to rush into signings and ending up with a repeat of the situation Briscoe was in. He doesn't want anyone to leave bcause they can't see a way they could make it into the team.
The development of Prescott, O'Carroll, Davies may well be part of the reason we are waiting until 2011 to bring in any props so as to replace Fielden, Feka or Coley rather than forcing a young lad to leave.

| I think it's absolutely the right way to develop the club. Signings should be a small number of top quality players, and should always take into consideration the development and opportunites of the players coming through the academy.
It seemed to work out well for the Storm with bringing through the likes of Slater, Inglis and Folau (and even then the cap doesn't allow them to keep everybody).

| As admirable as it is to have a team full of Wiganers, I don't think that approach will lead to silverware.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

Looks for a statement that says we are "Going to have a team FULL of Wiganers"... FFS.

Apologies not a team full of Wiganers, more like 90%.

But having a team with promising youth brought through and developed in the right time and the right way, combined with some top quality signings is.
It's where most of the NRL teams have moved to, and it's also what leeds have been trying to do.

Sorry, perhaps I'm just getting impatient. How long do we wait for Vievers and Mellor and the like to develop and reach their peak? 5 years? 10 years?
The other problem is we haven't had any top quality signings since Barrett. This is what we are crying out for. At the minute we have some honest good Wiganers and in the main avergae Aussies. For these Wiganers to develop they need some experienced world class winners around them otherwise they will just get into the habit of losing.

I think you're being overly pessimistic if you think Vievers, Mellor, Thornley, Farrel etc are 5 years away.
And as for top quality signings, you can't sign somebody who's not availalbe. And to be brutally honest some of the signings made by other teams (just like we've done before) from the NRL are very average.
If SL wants to improve, and if we all genuinely want a strong England team that's going to seriously compete with Australia, then i'm afraid it's the only way to do it, which is exactly what IL seems to think as well.

| I honsetly don't see who we're genuinely guttingly missing out on.
The only player who has moved from one SL that I would have desperately liked is Sam Burgess, but he was only ever going to go to the NRL (and fair play to the lad).
I don't feel there's been any world beaters that we've missed out on, and especially none that I would have in place of being able to have an enormous amount of salary cap to play with in 2011.
just my $0.02
Is our team as good as Leeds? of course it's not.
Is it as bad (forget performances, i mean in raw potential) as some make out? again of course it's not.
Now is the perfect time for a new coach, new attitudes, new methods, and have a chance to take stock and build.
And yeah people might be tired of waiting, but i'd trade a 1 off CC win or a 1 off GF win, for the ability to challenge for both year in year out.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |
