you've just been told it was because there was intelligence indicating that some fans were going to bring in spray paints - therefore every right to search and good job too as paint was found. Give up - you've clearly attracted a yob element to your support....very disappointing.
btw - the bog rolls looked poop

As much as I love this forum, I'm gonna end my involvement in this thread as I have said my bit. You chaps crack on with your debate.

Just a pity that those who implied you were lying haven't been able to apologise yet.

| I saw the young lad get thrown out before the game. He was in floods of tears and the stewarding did seem heavy handed. However, I did see him prior to this, stood up on the barriers leading your singing. The same lad also was walking to the ground with his face covered with a scarf.
I really do love the concept of the Brigantes but I do wonder why you are allowing such young lads to be part of your group. I personally find it very odd that you would arrange to meet up with lads of his age (he’s 15).
Someone complained about the till rolls on the Brigantes facebook page and they were slapped down, being told these aren’t illegal. If you want all fans to be part of this you need to empower them and listen to all their views.
I think it’s great the club are backing the Brigantes but I don’t think you lot are doing yourselves any favours, covering your faces. This is very intimidating, regardless of how you laugh it off. If I was walking to the DW with my wife and saw a group of Warrington or Saints fans doing this I would feel very uncomfortable and for me this goes against what Rugby League fans are about.
If you want to be a credible group, would like it to grow and gain recognition for your efforts of improving the atmosphere you really now need to start considering the way you are perceived to others. Not shout them down or blame stewards for a child being evicted. Like I said before, if you want 15 year old children in your group you need to have a duty of care and look after them, not one of you went with when he was evicted and just left him in his distressed state to catch the train. Luckily for him, his Grandad was there and gave him train fare money. A group who behaves like this is something I will not want to be a part of! His Grandad also thanked the Police officer involved for his assistance.

Well, seeing as one of our group did go along with him and even posted as much in this very thread I wonder who it was you saw getting thrown out.
Quote: Weekend Warrior "He was thrown out for throwing a toilet roll. I followed when the stewards escorted him, to make sure he was ok as he's only a young lad.'"

Be quiet..Cold days and wet rather= scarves being used for the fight thing..
And as for a 15 year old being part of the group..Or you saying we should only allow adults into the group sounds like youd rather have a group of bog fully grown men runing around looking like a hooligan group than have a young lad stand on a barrier singing a song and waving a flag

| Anyone heard the outcome of the meeting between the police and St Helen's stewards scheduled for Tuesday to discuss how they handled the match on good friday?

Perhaps if they'd let them take the bloody flags in in the 1st place, there would have been no desire from any fans to take spray paint to make banners in the ground!

We didnt take any spray paint what so ever, the spray paint that was taken off people at the turnstile was a group of young lads that had all spray painted there hair red, it was hair spray not "graffiti" spray paint.

So would you, or whoever it was, cover your face on cold days whilst out shopping? I was there too and it wasn't exactly Baltic.
It does look intimidating IMO and I assume many many others agree, which is a shame as the whole flags/atmosphere things is great and doesn't need that image.
The way I see it, for what it's worth is either:
1. You actually quite like the image. If so, fine. Just say so.
2. You don't care what image it gives you or the group. Again fine, just say so.
3. You genuinely don't think it looks intimidating. Like a previous poster said though, if I saw a wire fan like that it would give off a certain image of him, whether rightly or wrongly. Basically looks like the chavs from riots last year.
Folk are obviously entitled to wear what they like however they like. Just a shame for image of a good group, both brigantes and Wigan RLFC generally.

| BTW, I'm not saying he was a chav and likes rioting. Sure he's a nice lad and was just enjoying his day out like the rest of us. No big deal but worth a comment.

I was with this group all day and can honestly say, hand on heart I never once saw anyone with a scarf over their face, if anyone did, it must have literally been for a minute and it must of been one person out of the entire group. If I remember correctly, only 3 or 4 people out of the group of around 40-50 had scarves on anyway. I appreciate your comments and will make sure that it is stopped in future games but I really didnt see it.

| I've just had a read through this thread and just want to add a bit from a Saints perspective. The stewarding has been bit over zealous so far this season and i've witnessed our own fans thrown out for things that regularly happened at KR. I can only presume it's down to it being a new stadium and a newly awarded safety certificate and as such they're keen to stay on the right side of things. This will no doubt ease up over time and something i'd perhaps expect to see at any new stadium.
Not an anti Wigan thing I don't think because when Hull came the other week I saw a similar presence (police & Stewarding) and we'll no doubt see the same thing when Wire come to Langtree.
