Joel Tomkins salary for next season was significantly (eg 50% for the benefit of those who do not understand what this means) hiher than £80k and it would have continued to rise for the remainder of his 5(sic) year contract that he had signed last year.
How people believe he was going to be paid £80k next season is amazing. If people believe this then I would like to see how they imagine Wigan's wage structure was to work next season to get to salary cap level.

No way will Joels basic be 300 or 400k. He may get up there if he cracks the England side but not a chance of that wage at the beginning just with Saracens.
I think it's safe to say Sams new deal at Wigan is worth more then Joels at Saracens. A rather big hint was dropped about that by Lenagan yesterday.
Only right as well given their respective talents.

My mistake. However the point I am making is that overall Joel wont be far off earning 300k a year when you take sponsorship deals, boot deals etc into consideration.
If he makes it internationally,which I believe he will, this time next year he will be in the Gavin Henson bracket. |

The simple fact of the matter is that Joel will be earning far, far more in RU than he would at Wigan, hence why he has left. And who can blame him. |
