| Quote: doc999 "Nevermind Lam needs to go the SL is dead
Just watched this weekends dish served from sky sports and have to say it was pretty dire , less than 5k saints v Hud really poor game
wire v Wigan was pretty poor to watch too.
The game is going backwards
No stars/ambassadors.
Needs some massive changes , salary cap needs to be the first thing that needs the chop. As big of a prick he is , we need to let Eddie Hearn take the reigns at the RL headquarters .
Widnes in the late 80's, wigan in the 90's and Saints/Bradford in the early 2000's that was quality rugby ,entertaining and potential to grow. If we had even a top RL player on question of sport these days no one would have a clue who they where , probably not even some RL fans.
the RL have forced growth with catalans and now they want to send them the bill for having some success , one club who did grow and have success they shutdown (Sheffield) .'"
Well NRL coaches are much to blame.
If you had watched how Salford threw the ball about last week maybe your appetite could be replenished with a British coach (SE?)

| Quote: Jimmy Hornbys Tash "None of us know what is happening with SE or anyone else long term, but that's not the problem at the moment. The title of the topic is Lam needs to go fast, I would suggest that it should be retitled Lam needs to go TODAY.
In my opinion he is totally out of his depth and doing serious damage to the team and its confidence the longer he is here, hence my suggestion that SOL takes over as interim player coach until a suitable long term replacement can be found. If this is tosh Mr Magnets that's your opinion and one which you are entitled to voice, though, it would be good to hear how you would propose stop the immediate rot.'" How would Lockers do any better?? Whatbcoaching credidentials does he have ?!?! Also Lockers should have retired at the end of the season and bowed out on a high . We will just have to make do this year we won't get relegated and need to ride this wave of losses and see what happens

| Quote: NickyKiss "If it comes down to it and Edwards isn’t coming and we want a long term coach, I’d be looking at Danny Ward, Ian Watson, Shane Flanagan or that bloke who’s working a day a week in Scottish Rugby Union (doubt there’s any chance of that whilst Lenagan is here though).'"
On the outside looking in, the $64k question is "Edwards is he coming or not?"
Unless you know the answer to that question, and, perhaps, even Lenagan has not got the answer, then your coaching situation cannot be resolved for 2020. This has a knock on effect for 2019. Also, if there is uncertainty around who the future coach is, this has to have an unsettling influence over the playing squad. We've been through a similar situation while waiting for Tony Smith to take over from Jimmy Lowes. The intermediate period between Paul Cullen and Tony Smith didn't go very well. It improved once the right man was at the helm, but it took time for his influence to turn things around.
There's a lot of possible options:
Stick with Lam until the end of 2019.
Sack Lam and bring another babysitter in until Edwards arrives in 2020.
Sack Lam and look for a long term coach and forget about Edwards.
Stick with Lam and give him an extension should Edwards decline your offer.
Lenagan and Edwards need a chat, sooner rather than later.

| Edwards clearly holds the cards and can leave us dangling as long as he wants.
We’ve left ourselves wide open to it and as you say there’s not much we can do about it in the short term unless Edwards makes his position clear.

| I honestly don’t get all the hysteria. I’ve seen enough to believe we’ll still make top 5 and have a good run on the cup. Calls for Lam our are far too premature.

You still here then? You said you were only on here because you had us coming up. That games gone now you can crawl back under your stone.

| What happens if Edwards does come next season and we lose five out of our first six games, do we get out the gallows for him also? Edwards may also be out of his depth we won’t know until next season but for me Edwards is just as much a risk next season as Lam is this season.

Do you promise?
I’ll humour you for a bit. How is our start under Adrian Lam any different to your start under Price? Your early season form was utter rubbish but then you improved. We have been utter rubbish but I’m confident we’ll improve.

Exactly. Good players do not always make great coaches and Edwards has been away from the game for so long that he could easily end up being a disaster. He is completely untested as a RL coach and i have no idea why anybody would be willing the throw him straight into the head coaching position. He should of at the very least worked for one year as an assistant even if its only to refresh his knowledge of the game.

He’s one of the greatest players ever to play rugby league but as you rightly say, great players don’t always make great coaches. (Cunningham is a perfect example). However, Edwards is a proven, consistenty successful coach at the very top of club and international rugby union. He’s won several championships and has clearly demonstrated his leadership and player management abilities. The fact he hasn’t coached in RL isn’t a significant issue for me as he’ll have the likes of Lockers to support him.
He’s a student of the game and he’s known he’s been coming to league for over a year and I’m sure he’ll be watching more RL than any of us and learning the finer details of the modern game.
WHEN Edwards does come, (which I’m sure he will), I’m confident he’ll have a very positive impact on our club and the SL competition as a whole. As I say, his proven leadership ability and consistent success at the top level is what sets him apart from most others and why I have faith in him.

No very different other than the results.
Wire were without the spine for preseason extended break after England duties and Roberts was a late arrival, seemingly having more ons and offs that Shaun Edwards!
We had structures coming together as Price concentrated only on defence. Our attack was a very instructed 5 drives and a kick. That went on for about a month before we started to see some handling.
Wigan however look lost without any structure....more spray and pray.

I can’t believe you’re still sticking to the ‘we were rubbish in attack on purpose’ nonsense, nobody can give a single ounce of credibility to that argument. It’s time for you to go back to your board and stop cluttering ours up with cack.
