Given the stuff between Wigan and Cas recently surely Powell is the least likely?

Imagine what he could do with our first rate facilities! I reckon Powell could bring the best out of Williams with his attack minded coaching.
I text a mate who works at the club after I saw Powell and he wouldn't say anything rather than out right deny it. He's got a pretty decent record as well for insider info.
Getting pretty excited here.

| Quote: DaveO "Well we will see, won't we. Why you think the sun shines out of IL's bum I don't know. Whether you are in favour or not plenty of fans do not support him for taking games to London and Oz. He stuck with Noble too long and came up with the idiotic policy of letting players leave and then rushed to re-sign them (just to vindicate his policy IMO) and so far none of the ones returning have been worth it. Player recruitment in general has been hit and miss so while players like Bateman and Green have been signed there have been flops like Pettybourne, Pryce, Tauati, the great Andy Powell (remember him!) and Sarge. He made a master stroke of signing Madge and if he pulls of a similar feat again, then great but if he does appoint Winder I doubt many will be enthusiastic.'"
You really don't like IL, do you!!
The main problem you are saying is recruitment, maybe just maybe this lies at another person's feet.
Direct quote from Waney on the BBC website.
"I'm the most stubborn man in the world. (Owner and chairman) Ian Lenagan and (executive director) Kris Radlinski have always been loyal to me and I pick my own players. If I want a player, they say 'great' and they go and get them for me.
Maybe now that had proved to be the wrong way to do things IL has said enough is enough and told Waney this will not happen anymore, and the departures of Waneys favourites such as MM ST plus other rumoured departures could lend weight to this theory.
However, this is only my thinking and nothing is proved or disproved, just feels to me that Waney has had too much control at the club and IL is reigning that in and he didn't like that.

I think you may have nailed it with this theory.

| I’d hate for Powell to come to Wigan. We need an exciting appointment that will put bums on seats. Edwards or an Aussie would do that, Powell certainly won’t.

| Wane's done a very good job for Wigan IMO, and you have to respect someone who has a good look at themselves and decides to leave under their own terms. He's been in the job a long time and its very difficult to stay fresh in one place.
Do you think Wigan would look back to Maguire?

What financial problems would those be?
We're one of the few clubs that can spend right up to the cap, and we can afford two marquee players.
We also own the big training centre up the road, now called Central Park, and are in negotiation to buy the Robin Park stadium next door to the DW.
If you know something we don't, fair enough ... but do feel free to share.
