| I worried after the Catalans game that there was trouble in the camp and the players had stopped playing for Wane but I think that's been put to bed. The focus of Micky Mac and Lockers milestone games has been used in a clever manner to focus the players minds and things look pretty good again. Another thing that had changed these past two weeks is Wanes kept his mouth firmly shut! No team talks have been provided for the opposition and that's a start.
What I do think however is we can improve a whole heap further. We've frustrated at times even in these last two victories. I thought in the whole of the Leeds game and in the first half at Huddersfield we failed to build pressure when down at their end of the field. We were reliant on individual moments to win us a game at Newcastle and to keep us in the Huddersfield one. If we can pull all parts of our game together we could be lethal.

| I may be repeating myself from previous posts but for those who would like or want Wane to exit if we don't win the GF be careful of what you wish for.
No coach (even St Madge) is beyond getting the sack indeed virtually all coaches have been or will be sacked at sometime in their career.
If we don't win the GF who do we bring in? I personally can't think of one one British coach who I would like or who I think would be an improvement on SW. Aussie or Kiwi coaches? For every good one there are probably a dozen average Joe's or bullter Billy's.
If and when SW goes then ideally I would like Peet or Deacon to take over the role for continuity and for playing style.
SW is not perfect by any means but I defy anyone who could have done a better job in the last few years with all the churn of players and bringing through a wealth of young talent.
Personally I would let SW see out his contract out unless he looses the dressing room to give him time to further develop the young bloods and if at that point he hasn't delivered the silverware then it probably will be time for a change.
The Catalan result may just have been the kick up the arris that SW and the squad needed to get our feet firmly on the ground in that we are a work in progress and a lot more improvement from players, coaches and management is required.

| Quote: Father Ted "IL has always said he expects Wigan to be competing in Finals and winning them.
We didn't win anything last season although reaching the GF I felt Waney was let down.
IMO the Flower incident was made catastrophic for us by the match officials not sending both players off. Both warranted it but it didn't happen. That was not down to Shaun Wane.
Having seen the opposition most likely to compete again for trophies I feel we can certainly get to a Final and win it. Whether we do or nor remains to be seen.
SW's future as coach will depend on results as do all coaches jobs.
Win a trophy and he's safe. Fail to do so but reach a Final, may be safe as well.
Fail to win a trophy and not make the Final then he will be in difficulty.'"
You acknowledge above that the GF defeat was out of Wanes hands. That is down to luck. Luck plays a large part in all sport. People don't like to recognise this because they like to think that events can be controlled. They can't. There are many variables that affect the outcome of the game other than the coaches input.
Saying something like "if he wins nothing this season then he's out" makes no sense. Getting rid of a man who won the LLS In his first season, won the double in his second then would have won the GF In the third but for the incident which we will not speak of. So how on earth does anyone make out he is under pressure is beyond me. If that's the case every coach in the land should be sacked bar the GF winner.
The definition of 'fickle' is alive and well on these boards. Luckily Ian Leneghan is a lot more sensible than the majority on here. And thank God for that.
Wane will see out his contract. I will put money in it. If anyone wants a charity bet let me know.

| I think this season is the best chance we have to win SL.
In 2013 we had an incredibly lucky run to Wembley and in the play-offs played perennial chokers Huddersfield and a poor Leeds team who were knackered. The only time we played well in the last 6 weeks of the season was the 2nd half of the final (arguably Warrington blew it and again we were lucky with injuries).
However this year, who honestly will challenge us?
We showed at Magic that we can comfortably beat Leeds when we play alright.
Saints have so many injuries they will probably just about scrape the top 4.
Warrington are incredibly hit and miss, mostly miss.
Huddersfield aren't really shaking anything up - ditto Castleford this year.

| AUOP. You make your point in the first two paragraphs then can't resist having a pop at those who dare to disagree with you in the third. First off, I'm not sure that the majority of us are fickle. With regard to being sensible, SW has often opened his mouth and held forth in a manner that many on here wouldn't think was in the least bit sensible, as you claim him to be. Lastly, it's a shame that you can't see that denigrating those who dare to differ from you (whether or not I agree is immaterial) actually reflects badly on you.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Anybody who has been in any way positive since SW's appointment has been derided consistently here. I seldom post now, and was even chastised by a Mod, an SW critic for bringing up a post from earlier in the season after our GF win which made people look silly..
We were a moment of madness away from another GF win last season, are third currently with young players blooming.... Smell the roses guys... Maybe some would be better supporting a team who spend season after season in the bottom half of the table, I'm sure you would be much happier...
Calm rant over.... Have a lovely day, if that's your thing

| FWIW I'm still in the pro Wane camp, even more so when he keeps his mouth shut. There may have been consistent derision but IMO it's only from a minority in here, not a majority as AUOP believes. That was the point I wished to make.
EDIT. the poll shows 38% want him out now. Technically, that makes my earlier comments correct, but I will admit that's a sizeable minority.

| I'd love to see this poll reset, now as we've seen a decent performance and half of a decent away performance.

Sport is a fickle business. One result an change a season. Especially your second biggest ever loss.

And a further 30% are prepared to wait until the end of the season then if he wins nothing, he's out. That makes 68% who do not back Shaun Wane.
That Jimmy, is a MAJORITY, and not only that, it's a SIZEABLE majority on here who are FICKLE.
And even the poll was skewed because you were asked to vote for 'a coaching genius'. If that's not undermining SW I don't know what is.
I believe the club are amending the big flag to -
"Loyal 18 *** As long as we are winning something every season"

Christ... are you Wane's missus? It is beyond cringeworthy now.

This is just what Wigan Peer was talking about. It's ok to slag the coach off but not ok to support him? I was replying to Jinkin' Jimmy's post which was aimed at me personally.
Am I not allowed any right of reply now?

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| If SW can keep his trap shut and stop embarrassing the club, he's got my backing. If the season fizzles out and say we miss the playoffs (very unlikely IMO) it'll probably be time for a change.

Not when it constantly sounds like your tongue is firmly in his . You sound like one of those parents that always sticks up for their kid no matter what they do. And then you go crying about getting chastised by other forum members, it's embarrassing.

| What's embarrassing is the whole 'Wane Out' business.
People are certainly entitled to express their views on the team's strengths and weaknesses without being written off as 'fickle'. And this season has been very up and down, so you're bound to get more of that than usual. But it's rewriting history to suddenly decide that SW hasn't been pretty successful as head coach at Wigan. To sack him on the basis of two seasons without silverware - especially as the main reason we didn't win the Grand Final last year was down to a moment of utter madness by an individual player - would be a Whelan-esque act that would invite ridicule on the whole club, especially if we didn't replace him with someone really, really good.
Overall though, I'd be more sympathetic to the 'Wane Out' crowd if it didn't remind me views put forward by certain fans, mainly on the other board - but there are one or two on here too - who, for reasons best known to themselves, have seemed determined to be unimpressed by both SW and IL from the very beginning.
