| Quote: DaveO "I was in favour of him taking over but a bit non-plussed at his pre-season pre and the Widnes defeat (cock up) but the way the attack is going is better than Madge.
I love this comment off the BBCWe can play well in spells but it will come."
8-50 and we can play well in spells....'"
Totally agree. I remember you saying that he needed to be given a little bit of time after a shaky start.
The guy's a real perfectionist, which is nice. But he's a decent bloke to boot, as well. It infuriated me when certain rival fans took the pee out of his 'northern lad' persona. Are they not northern lads themselves? Does everything have to have an Aussie accent to make it any good?
For some time, we've been crying out for a British coach who can emulate the Antipodean intellectuals in the way he prepares his team, etc. Shaun is looking like he might be the one. If Faz and Giz - two others who learned their trade in the same university of RL that was Wigan back then - had stayed in the game, we might now have three home-grown coaches of this ilk.

| Absolutely agree with all this. It must have been very tempting to follow Maguire with another Aussie coach, rather than 'risk' a British coach who's come through the ranks - and under other ownership I don't think Wane would have got his chance. I think it speaks volumes for the far-sighted approach of IL - we now have a coach who is only going to get better with more experience, and who looks like he'd never want to coach at another club.
I'm not saying there won't be disappointing performances in future, but Hudds/Saints/Leeds have been possibly the most impressive string of performances since the 90's. Wane has improved us on last season, and the comparison to 3 years ago under Noble is ridiculous - there was more on show last night than in a whole season back then.

| Top of the league, semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, unbeaten in nearly three months, 3 victories over Saints & an absolute annihilation/humiliation of the Leeds Whinos.

| Wane used to coach the u21's didn't he? I remember reading years back that the young lads loved him and loved playing for him.

he certainly did, and he had about the best coaching record in the business - for both winning and getting kids promoted to the seniors

| They brought in the salary cap to try to stop us.
They ban our players to try to stop us.
I foresee a ban on home grown coaches next

| Whilst watching the game on Sky i felt somewhat embarrassed and ashamed that i had called for his head after the Widnes Debacle , i was never in favour of him taking over and i still do find him arrogant , however i wish to apologise for my ott reaction and admit that i was wrong and congratulate Shaun Wane on the great job he is doing

| Watching him in the stands during televised games is almost as entertaining as watching the games.
I feel sorry for Harris at times, he ears must be ringing after the 80.
Just re-watching the games now. Try lip reading after the Hughes disallowed try.
My mate described it perfectly last night. He reckons Wane is like one of these ultra competitive dads standing on the touchline bellowing orders at his kid . I dont want that to sound disrespectful either.
I loved the fact that Madge kept shtum and left journos with nothing. I am also loving the Shaun gives them soundbites a plenty. Truth of the matter is if we keep blowing sides away, he can say whatever he likes.
This has been the most entertaining season in years.

| I saw Wigan last year and fell for their charismatic personalities on and off the pitch.
I have watched them this year (as far as work allows) and each game has just made me more and more sure I made the right choice. Wire's were contenders last year, but Wigan had Sam Tomkins. This year... who's gonna stop us? I mean, apart from Widnes

| Wonder what kind of imput his backroom staff have especially the likes of Iestyn Harris. Would hate the thought of McDermott getting fired at Leeds and Gary Hetherington knocking on our door for permission to talk to Iestyn.

Not wrong mate
I cant think of any negatives this year whatsoever. So what we lost at Widnes?, that humiliation may be whats driving the team to play the way we are now.
We have a very good and very young squad.
Countless youngsters chomping at the bit who are performing like seasoned pros when required.
A homegrown Head coach who bleeds WRLFC.
Possibly the best backroom staff in SL
An owner that is got this club into its healthiest state in many a year.
The best thing of all though is the thing i am happiest about the most...............................A nice deep attacking line!
happy days
