| I can only assume west’s tigers have cancelled their sky sports subscription this year.

| If they do go don't let them back I think that Bateman will stay and will be offered a good contract.

| His form obviously hasn’t been too crash hot but he’s a superb young player and when you’ve as much money as these NRL clubs, you can afford to take chances on potential.
My gut feeling is that he’ll stay here on a contract similar to Batemans last one but who knows.

| It’s a report in The Sun! I don’t even believe the date in that rag!
I’m with you on this NK, he’s a very good young player and got tons of improvement left in him.

| Name a better 21 year old centre than Gildart playing Super League?

| We should be working hard to keep him, good centres are hard to come by at the moment. I'm not sure he would make it in the NRL anyway due to his size. The backs all seem to be bigger over there.

I'd be annoyed if he left. Can't see him making an impact given his size and current ability. I wouldn't have expected Kallum Watkins to have done well until the last couple of years and Gildart isn't Watkins. If he went now I expect it would end up similar to Sarginson and Burgess. If it's worth it to him to earn more money but not play, fair enough, why not go given Wigan have made it clear they will take back people who walk out on them.
If Sam is leaving we must be keeping some of these of contract player(I hope). Sam going really doesn't make sense otherwise.

Who?
I've never said Gildart wouldn't make it in the NRL. I hope he stays at Wigan as he's the best British centre in the game at his age. He deserves an salary increase but it's up to Wigan to come up with a realistic offer.

And he's not "Walking out on Wigan" - His contract is ending - Big Difference.
It's up to Wigan/Gildart to come to an agreement that is satisfactory to both parties.
Personally he should merit the kind of pay Budgie/Sarge are on and if on the Open Market there'll be plenty who will pay him that.

I assumed the poster was referring to the 20 year old Gildart last year, as being better than 'this year's model'.

Please tell me Sarginson isn't on anything better than minimum wage.

I know What he was on when he left.
It was minimum wage, if he worked 24hrs a day, 7 days a week!
Seriously though, if he's on same wage now or even a touch more I would say its in line with what I would expect.
I get it that some people don't like him etc. But I feel he gets way too much criticism.

I haven’t a clue what players earn to be honest but it doesn’t really bother me either way. I trust the club to do what they think is right and the players are obviously satisfied with their contract at the time of signing it, or they would sign.
Like you, I think he gets far too much stick, as do many other players at our club. He’s fast, he works hard and always gives his best. Anybody who watched his grand final win will know the lad can play rugby and play it well. I accept though, he has improvement in him and needs to find some consistency.

Far far too much. He had an horrendous start to this season but he was clearly troubled with his shoulder. He’s gone away and worked hard and has since been much better.
He’ll never be Gary Connolly but the criticism he gets is OTT. He’s a good squad option and his versatility is very useful.
