| We had it in us in the cup quarter final last season so we can "get it up".
Why we have failed to do so since then remains a mystery.
As I thought with Saints on Friday, there comes a point when, after a few hammerings, the opposing team is due a win. Just hope it's us the next time we play them (Grand FInal???).

| I think we were more 'getting it up' for Wembley rather than Wire last year. Although I thought we had managed it under Maguire quite well though, this year we seem to have gone back to not giving a e about beating them!

| I don't think it's that we don't care, it's more that the last three times we played them, we were out-muscled in the forwards which gave them the platform to go on to win. The key to beating Wire is to not let their pack dominate ours, thus giving them a platform to get quick PTBs or offload and get 2nd and 3rd phases of attack.
Of course dominating there pack is easier said than done but it can be done and we do have the players to do it.

| If Wigan had taken the chances they created in the DW clash this year and not been as negative with their penalty decisions we'd have been sitting here at 1-1.
We didn't, they rode their luck and stuck in there against a side getting stuck in to them. That's the total opposite of what happened at the HJ a few weeks back.
They're in better form then us and are a cracking side and we'll have to be 'up for it' to come close to beating them but that DW game plus the cup quarter final last year prove we don't just treat these games as an after thought to the Saints derbies.
Wire are a better side by a distance then Saints as well which we shouldn't forget.

Spot on with your evaluation. Our props have been out-muscled for some weeks now but fortunately we have not played a team as good as Warrington. There were signs that Mossop is returning to form and the retun of Fielden and Dudson should threaten the position of other front rowers. The biggest disappointment for me has been Lima since he announced his return to Australia his form has been poor. If we are to be successful at OT then he needs to find his feet quick.

Correct, and that will become evident come Saturday. I would have liked Saints in the play-offs because I know we will beat them on 9 out of 10 occasions.

Conversely to that, had the refs chalked off the try scored after McIlorum played the ball despite not being tackled. and the try that was scored after Tomkins break from hock being doing his NFL blocking impersonation, you'd be sat here at 0 and 2

| Quote: FIOS "All I ask in these play-offs is to see a Wigan team play with some passion and actually look like we want to beat Warrington (if we have to face them)
If we treated Warrington like we did St Helens we would not get beat by them as often as we do. The Wire players have that passion and desire to beat Wigan like Wigan and St Helens do against each other but we just don't seem to have it in us whenever we face them.
We are not going to get anywhere this year or next if we don't change this mental attitude against Warrington, they are our team to beat. We've been lucky we haven't really had to face them in the play offs so far.'"
Thus far, Warrington have never been a force in the play-offs. I doubt they'd have troubled us at all in previous years, had we met them.
But I do agree that they look good this year and seem to have an Indian sign over us. That said, they're not the only ones I'm worried about. Several Wigan players did the bare minimum last Friday night, which was a poor return for such a big crowd, regardless of how unimportant the match was. This suggests a mental weakness to me, which we need to eliminate double-quick if we are to progress past Catalan, let alone reach the final.

| I think we keep losing against Warrington in the forwards. They have more firepower up front and have a biggger, stronger pack. In the last game our pack looked beaten as soon as they stepped onto the field. Until that changes you arent going to beat any RL team.

| If you are concerned about the Warrington pack, then surely the same concern should be given to Catalans? Arguably, the biggest pack in SL. Their only undoing being their discipline.

They've only won once the game after beating Wigan in the last couple of years. Shows how much we take out of them.

| Said before, to beat wire we should go with a massive pack from the start with mobility on the bench.
If we picked a pack of say; Dudson Mcllorum Mossop Hock Leuaki O'Loughlin to start; with Flower, Fielden, Hansen, Farrell on the bench, we'd knacker their old guard before half time, and could stick hansen and farrell on to run riot against their tired older pack.
Problem is we start too lightweight........start with a monster pack.........lay into them for 30 minutes with that so their shot before half time....and then stick our mobile forward on, we'd run rings round em IMO.
