29281_1270406980.jpg When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club.
We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens.
Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before.

| You had one last year around the same time. Maybe an agreement when you signed Andy Coley?

Just a guess but im thinking the conversation went something along the lines of
"Who should we have our first game at the new stadium against?"
"Well who would we pull the biggest crowd in against?"
"Probably Wigan...like everybody does"
Cant think for the life of me why though.....acording to other teams fans we arent famous, successful or anything anymore.

| Looking forward to having a look at the new stadium.
We expecting a friendly at Saints new home as well? You'd have to think there's every chance.

| I'm not too sure you are going to be the 1st friendly at the new stadium. In the press release on our official website rlhererl, it just says that you will be the 1st Super League team to visit the new stadium. As far as I know there have to be a few trial games at the ground in order for the stadium to pass the health and safety/fire regulations. I would assume that there would be a couple of friendly's against lower league teams such as Swinton and/or Leigh in order to pass these.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

| Anyone know where they are schedulewise for the new ground? Just thinking this is only 12 weeks away and with safety checks and certificates to get think it might be a tight schedule given where they appear to be at with the ground.
Went past the ground this week on the M60 and they don't appear to be half as well advanced as St Helens, theres only about 10 seats in the main stand at present and the other stands still look incomplete. Around the ground still looks like a building site whereas saints do look almost ready to move in so you can see them being in on time. Does anyone know if they are behind / ahead of schedule with things because to an untrained eye it seems they have a great deal of work to do!
Know it might come together very quickly from the stage they're at but was thinking surely if they want a game in 12 weeks the staduim should be pretty much complete by now?
Is the willows still knocking around if it wasnt to be ready and would they switch or would they just call it off?

How many seats do they need?
The Willows was still standing last month but I doubt they'll use it. They've probably cleared out everywhere and started the removal work inside.
It'd probably just be cancelled if the ground wasn't ready but I doubt they'd bother organizing it if they didn't think the ground would be ready.

| I have been driving past every day, the speed in which the stands went up was amazing. From nothing to a full stadium in about 2-3 weeks, the seats have only just started going in. I went past yesterday and there were a couple of hundred seats in the main stand. The rest is terraced. The pitch went down as soon as the stands were done, it's looking good.
So, they have almost 3 months to get the rest of the seats in (I would think that's going to be done this week), complete any cladding and then fitting out. Outside, I'm guessing it's tarmac and the like which I would hope is happening soon before we get any bad weather freezing the ground.

| New buildings today are like giant mecanno sets. Large roof pieces come pre fabricated and just bolt on. I reckon the game will go ahead but a lot of the finishing touches will not be completed. It's in an ideal position, you can dump the wife at the Trafford Centre and go the match.

You and me are on the same wavelength my friend. Will be doing this every match next year.

| They did pick us partly because wigan draws a big crowd, but the stadium needs to pass certain safety tests before it can be given a licence to host events. They need to have z certain number of fans in the ground to pass and wigan will provide that number

This is correct. I believe there will be 2 games at the stadium before the Salford v Wigan game. the first against swinton and the second against Leigh. It is obviously expected that the crowds will rise with each game allowing the club to iron out any teething problems and as you say for regulations etc.
