However, a number of electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

| Fantastic 12 months, but I have to point out the laziness of the journalismMaguire, who will be Wigan's 11th coach in 11 years, will be tasked with restoring the club to the top of the English game, a position they have not enjoyed since the early nineties.'"
So 1998 didn't count then?
Back on topic.
Madge, Waney, IL (and others)..........

| IL must feel very vindicated.
Maguire has surely performed even beyond his wildest dreams.

| At the start of the season I think most of us thought that we would see some improvement and reserve judgement, hoping for a strong run in the play offs and take it from there. MM/Wigan exceeded expectations, but I would say that we didn’t over-achieve, we played to something close to our potential and with the squad improving can get even better.
Before the start of next season, I’m already thinking I’ll be disappointed or surprised if we don’t win either the CC or SL.
Michael Messiah will lead us back to the promised land. In Madge we trust.

Yeah, after all the crap he took about "sacking" noble in the media.
Dont recall seeing the same outrage at potter not having his contract renewed or any other coach in the history of the sport for that matter!

I seem to remember the Sky muppets were fairly vocal about it. No surprises there.

Yeah I recall something similar, I turn the volume off now if i ever watch rugby in sky, I find myself not watching the match, but being filled with the urge to throw my shoe through the tv!
I would pay quite a large sum of money to kick eddie in the balls!

| It's been a sensational year. We've seen the team train and compete as hard as any of the great Wigan sides of the past - the team is not yet the finished article but standards at Wigan are back to where they should be. The new ideas of the brilliant Madge, the best coach in SL, being perfectly combined with the "old" Wigan values epitomised by the uncompromising Wane.
We've seen Pat Richards go from being a player who would be remembered as a big point scorer and a good clubman to a bona fide all time Wigan legend. The big man has quite simply set a new standard for wing play in British RL.
We've seen Sam Tomkins go from being a tremendous prospect to a truly world class player, the most exciting home grown Wigan player for a generation.
We've seen the Wigan pack once again make itself a real force in SL with a revitalised Fielden and great performances throughout the season from Joel Tomkins, Lockers and others. Nothing gave me greater pleasure than seeing the Saints pack comprehensively defeated by the Wigan pack at the GF - the missing Saints half backs weren't the reason Graham et al were outmuscled and outcompeted by the Wigan forwards. No wonder Graham was a little upset....
What a great year it's been, but what a year 2011 promises to be with an even better pack and a new halfback and more to come from our fantastic young players... bring it on!

I think a lot of us thought we were underachieving by quite a bit and so would see a marked improvement but didn't dare dream it would result in a GF win.
You only had to listen to Wane after he was appointed to know he had a list of issues he wanted to address which once sorted were almost bound to bring about better performances and that was before the modern techniques and ideas Madge brought along were in place.

| I think Nobby should have had another year!
It's all his foundations etc etc etc. this is in my opinion in no way shape or form Nobby's team. This is MM's team everything about it is different apart from the names on the back of the shirts, which in reality stands for very little when everything else has changed so much for the better.
I think even Nobby accepts this which is why he is looking for a couple of years in the NRL back room staff to try to bridge the massive gaps in his knowledge at this new modern level.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| The only thing we havn't won is the challenge cup and we only went out of that due to a late try. Completely dominated the whole season from start to finish.
