| I'll start with the obvious cliche - after that ref tonight, the games gone.
I honestly thought I'd never say this, but I don't want Wigan to play next week. Even after losing 75-0 to our bitterest rivals, I still wanted to see us play. Next week, I want nothing to do with the sport. It's a become a parody of everything that it once sold itself on.
Enough is enough and I want either the club, or players to go on strike. If the club grew some balls and publicly announced it was striking, I'd happily pay into a crowd fund or buy a "none match" ticket to support them. I'm a ST holder too.
I can't think of anything worse than going to watch what will
undoubtedly be a pen fest next week. The game after that, who knows who'll be out there.
RU, a game I used to play and enjoy watching, has killed itself. Don't let that happen to British RL.

| I’m struggling to put my thoughts in to words at the minute. I just don’t know where we go. Rich Whiting tweeted that literally one insurer would cover the sport and they’re pushing all this. We’re skint and cannot afford to push back, so where can the sport go? To think we’ve got such a big game tomorrow, I’ve actually felt pretty deflated since that red card. A feeling is hanging over me that we should enjoy tomorrow because we might not see another game of the rugby league we fell in love with for a long time (well not in the flesh anyway. Maybe we’ll see it on the TV from Australia).

My thoughts exactly. I'd say we've got one game of "proper RL" left and that's tomorrow. I'd even say that tomorrow is right on the line of what I'd class as "proper RL" too. It literally can't go beyond this point and be classed as RL.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe Derek's breakaway league might be the only answer. Either that, or the NRL comes in to save us. A step change is obviously needed.

Just do spear tackles. The mrp will realise it was a Wigan player and let then off, and instead blame the attacker

If I could wish a serious injury on anyone, it would be you. I'd happily watch it happen on repeat too.

Whatever happens, tomorrow will be a sticking plaster over the gaping wound that the RFL have self-inflicted on us. Whether we win or lose, it won't matter. The time for some kind of aggressive response is now.

| Agree with the other posters comments about the red card.. never in a million years was it sending off not even a yellow card.. frustrating for me as Wire to see that happen. Interesting that Paul Vaughan in his Sky interview was all for the new rules put in place.. wonder how many other players are onboard with the changes..

| Enjoying NRL this morning even though it's only their pre season. It feels normal, and it's kind of medicinal after what happened last night. Good luck to you guys today, and lift that trophy.

| While I agree the game has probably shifted too far, and I'm certainly glad I've finished officiating, we can't place the blame entirely at the door of the RFL.
If things had not changed, we wouldn't have any form of RL to watch in this country. Too many people have backed the game into a corner. I can see a point where the impact of the cards will finally see a real adjustment from players and it will improve things.
I know several people will call this a dream or stupidity, but it's the only way our game can survive and I have to try and believe it can.

The problem is not the outlawing of head tackles.
Head tackles have long been illegal, and rightly so.
It's the outlawing of accidental contact with the head, as in last night.
You can't outlaw something you have no control over. If accidental contact with the head is a sending-off offence, you will have no rugby league.
It's that simple.
