Possibly but he’ll do at least a year or two more than just the year he had left on his current deal and we then have time to develop Farrimond. It was so important to get Smith tied down to help with that succession planning (if needed). |

Fantastic news, just before he gets named the best player in the world tomorrow.
Opposition fans were getting giddy at the thought of him going.
Hopefully he stays out his career and doesn’t have NRL ambitions but even if he doesn’t. This secures he can go on our terms and get a fee for him.
Said it all year but he’s our most important player.
Wire away, Saints GF, Wire cup game, Leigh away (final game), grand final. Bossed all them big games behind his kicking game.
Playing will more confidence and authority next year and he’ll be a dream teamer for sure.

Just to echo what everyone is saying, brilliant news. I have followed Wigan for over 30 years and I think his kicking from hand is up there with the best that’s been at the club in that time, if not the best.
