| Hi all, first time poster here so go easy on me because this is quite a lengthy one (as the Bishop said to the actress, boom boom.)
I know things are pretty dire at the moment and it seems like things will never get better but as most of us truly know, its just a blip and whether its this season, next season or the one after then we know that eventually all will come good.
I personally think (i know not everyone agrees and to be fair it would be boring if we all did) that a new coach, a couple decent props and players back from injury and playing in position would make a massive difference and dramatically change the dynamics of the team for the better, just getting rid of lam at this point would probably have a similar effect for a while.
BUT....I feel that the far more pressing matter is the state of our beloved sport at the moment. I truly feel that if something isn't done soon then rugby league as we know it will finish. Everything and I mean everything is wrong with the running of the game, the rfl don't seem to have a clue, there so far distanced from the fans that no decision they make can be right, the promotion of the sport is an absolute joke, fixtures getting moved here there and everywhere (i know some of this is covid but been happening for years now), we are tethered to the sky deal like a ball and chain and with so many sports channels now surely someone, anyone must be able to negotiate us a better deal, refereeing is a joke, and the list goes on and on.
I don't know how any of this can change but had to get it off my chest.
Apologies for the long winded post and thanks if you read it all.

| Hello and welcome,i don't think that sacking Lam will improve us this season, our main problems are a lack of discipline and the total decimation of our squad with injuries in the key positions hopefully we can get Field back soon

| For me personally weve give lam long enough, I feel he is out of his depth and needs to go, we're not going to see this great attacking style that he promised 2 years ago, we can only go so far with the players running the show themselves.
I agree that we need some bodies back and hope that field works out for us but unfortunately untill we see more of him in our shirt he's a bit of an unknown.

| It’s unbelievable to think he promised this mind blowing style of attacking rugby and we’re now a side, who over the last 6 weeks, has averaged a try a game. One try per game, that is astonishing. Some of the worst sides I’ve ever seen in superleague would be ashamed of that.

| It is unbelievable and shocking but maybe more unbelievable that some people can't seem to see this. Playing a winger (1st game back after injury) at fullback and a full back on the wing the other week is possibly the stupidest coaching decision I've seen and one that I don't understand at all.

| I don't think Lam will be sacked (even if we lose every game till the end of the season) however it would be madness to give him a new contract. We have gone back in both our attacking style (not forwards as promised) and our defence which Waney spent years perfecting.

| I don't think we'll get rid either, think there's probably a good chance he'll get another go next season.

| I'd rather wait and get the guy we want for 2021 rather than rush and end up with another coach we want rid of. I think that is what the club are doing.

| I see Brian McDermott has just joined Oldham as a coaching consultant till the end of this season. I am guessing he would be looking for a higher-profile role after that, I wonder if he is being lined up for us for next season. Not an appointment that would be met with universal acclaim if it were true but I would he happy enough.- new broom and all that. Of course, this is pure speculation and probably deciding 2 and 2 makes 5!

| If we lose to Huddersfield making it 6 on the bounce, much like Alexander De Pffeffel only makes a decision when he has no other option but to, IFL may then pull the trigger.
Clutching at straws I think but from what I’m hearing 2022 isn’t going to be a ‘clear the decks’. Instead it’s SW in as Director of Rugby and Matty Peet as Head Coach. With the squad we will have, the signings we’re (rumoured to be) making I’m looking forward to a lacklustre season harping back to the ‘glory era’ of the early-mid-late 2000’s where we might make the Challenge Cup Final but come nowhere near in the league.
Superb.
If true, I can’t back the current regime any further and IMO would be time for them to go.

We've gone back and forth a few times and I'll reserve my judgement until we know who's coming in (players and coach), but IF it's as you say then I'll be in the same camp and will be calling for change.
I'm getting there more every day tbh and every p!iss poor squad we put our and every post match BS summary from Lam that I see, pushes me towards it. The club seems happy to watch the season fall off a cliff and won't take any action.
Real make or break 6 months imo. One that can seriously tarnish IL's legacy too.

You’re pretty much where I am as well. I can’t remember feeling this deflated in a long, long time. I’d hate IL’s legacy to be tarnished, much I suspect like yourself and many others. I also fear KR’s is heading the same path.

| What make some of you think that in the present financial/pandemic situation, quality and number of the present first team squad, it is in any position to offer any better contract to attract a Coach who is better than the present one?
