| How do you rate Morgan Escare so far?
I thought that Morgan Escare was very good in the WCC against Cronulla.
Is there any chance that Shaun Wane will force Samuel Tomkins, when he is fit, to play in the halves?

| He's been good. And his generally very strong performances in defence do suggest his development was held back by poor coaching at Catalans. He already looks a much better player than he did in France, and can improve further.

| We need to get him pinned down on a longer term contract asap. He's already earned it!
He's got electric pace and I can see him possibly being put out to the wing if Sam gets back to fitness.

| It's still early days. He's only played three games. He looks good so far and against expectations but I'd give it a few months until we decide whether to offer a new contract.

I agree this is where we really could have messed up this season. Sarge was a very good cover player and played a few positions and did a job. FB seemed his role though. Problem is we do not have a proper cover for full back if we do not get a deal with him done asap.
Longer he plays the more he will cost to keep.

| He's inpressed me so far, in both attack and defence. That kick-chase to set up Gildart's try was a thing of beauty, as was his one-on-one try saving tackle in the WCC, to give examples of both aspects of his play.

| Escare is doing everything he can to get a place in the team. It takes some confidence to go to play in a top team knowing that you might just be cover for a top player out injured. He is showing the desire that I feel Hampshire lacked.

| Tomkins said in an interview on Wigan TV that the club brought him in as a play maker and that they felt Catalans had always used him wrong when playing him as an out and out runner.
He's made a very classy start.

| Did another try saver on the weekend showing unbelievable strength to hold a Widnes player up.
Playing a lot better than a back up full back.
Want to see a more varied passing game when he's chiming into the line.

| The fact that we signed Escare says an awful lot.
To move him to wing (based on current form) would be ludicrous, to move Williams would be even more ludicrous.
Sam Tomkins now has real competition and this is exactly what he needs but we looked a more dangerous attacking threat with Sarginson at FB last season and the same could be argued with Escare now.
Sam will need to really impress should Escare pick up an injury or lose some form but he will need to do better than what he showed last season.

| Escape was signed as cover for ST and has made a good start. However, a fully fit ST is in a different league and will walk straight back into the team. We are blessed this year with more quality in the squad but let's not go overboard in February. I agree Escare deserves his spot but, by the same token, doesn't Willie Isa? A fully fit pack means no Isa and I suspect a fully fit back line may well mean no Escare. It's all good IMO.
At least Escare is deserving of the plaudits he is receiving. If only I could remember who it was that posted he would stop watching if ST got into the team in front of Hampshire.......

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

Sam Tomkins is being paid an absolute fortune. He's going to walk back into the team whether he's deserving or not.
