| Bad news really as both seem to have discovered a bit of form. Hopefully though we use the time we have been given to recruit. Even if we can promote some young players to cover those positions, let's use the money on some genuine talent to compliment all the young players.

16304_1526976105.jpg [size=100:2md8k3b3][b:2md8k3b3]'Do you remember when we had that meeting in Orlando? We talked about how we were knocked out the previous year by Leeds. And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.'

| Hopefully the powers that be will make good on this (not holding my breath, though)“Whilst it is disappointing to lose Josh and Dan, we have various options in the backs with Dom Manfredi, Anthony Gelling and Oliver Gildart all playing well and on long-term contracts plus Lewis Tierney. We are also genuinely excited about potential new recruits and Kris Radlinski, Ian Lenagan and myself have already discussed these - as we did when bringing in players like Dan, Tony Clubb, Ben Flower and John Bateman. We will continue to do so over the next few months.”'"

| Gildart can (and has) replaced Sarginson but we need to sign a good winger to replace Charnley. We could probably do with a utility back squad player too

This is the only good news in this whole affair, providing they carry it through

| Double edged sword for me this one. Charnley has been a passenger for the last couple of years albeit not his fault for being injured and looks to really have upped his game this season. I suppose it all depends on his replacement. He was at a time, irreplaceable but not so much now and he made a rod for his own back last season. Maybe he should have worked harder to get match fit rather than running to the media complaining that Manfredi had come in and replaced him and done a lot better than he had. There are good wingers out there and we have to sign one as there aren't any ready for the step up. In a way i am glad the saga is over and there will be no more rumours.
Sidestep Sarginson must have a very good agent that's all i can say. I just can't see him even making one appearance for the Titans. I would guess that Gildart and Gelling have the centre spots nailed on and Isa will be the back up next term. Tom Johnstone please, and with the club mentioning players like Clubb, Sarge and Flower i think we can expect a player with potential rather than a proven winger so Johnstone looks nailed on. I can't think of anyone else with potential in SL who isn't already snapped up. Tommy Makinson was being touted as Charnley's replacement a couple of seasons ago. I just wonder. he is from Hindley isn't he? Maybe he has become disillusioned with Cunningham's tactics and wants a change. Money talks. I don't think we will see Burgess back anytime soon. I think his first year at the Roosters will be all about him being bulked up and readying him for the strength of the NRL, besides if we are looking to sign somebody now and get it done it's way to early to be making an approach for Budgie. If there was any chance of that you would feel it would be towards the end of the season. Could the Carney rumour be true?

| Shane to see both go but it isn't a surprise. I find it a little worrying that a player of Sarginsons ability can see us as a stepping by stone only a year in to a three year deal (which is when Lenagan said he made it clear he wouldn't sign a new deal)but it's a sign of the times I suppose. I rate Sarginson quite highly and feel the big challenges and big games bring out the best in him and I believe he'll surprise a few.
As for Charnley he's been a key man for us for a long while but he's been poor these past couple of years. We need a good replacement but I can understand him deciding to take on a new challenge. I just hope he keeps his form going and goes out on a high.
The club gave to sign replacements because behind the current squad there aren't any lads ready for regular first team games.

Fair comments from the club, I'd say- both were offered good contracts but "it wasn't about money".

| I have mixed feelings on this.
1. Salary cap - yet again we see players leaving for Union and the NRL. We simply can't compete with the salary cap at the level it is whilst Union and the NRL increase theirs.
2. Josh has played really well so far this season but for the last couple of years he seems to have had his head elsewhere and as has been more interested in off the field interests. This may be unfair but it is certainly the impression he has given. Dan is still only young and has shown that he has the potential to be a very good player.
3. Questions have to be asked about the senior staff at the club. We seem to be the only club where there is a steady stream of players leaving year by year. I look at a player like Manfredi and whilst I am made up that he his progressing like he is, I am concerned that he will naturally attract the attention from union and the NRL. Other clubs don't seem to have this problem, certainly not at the level we have experienced. We cannot rely on the fact that that our academy system will continue to produce players at the level that it has over the past few years.
4. Recruitment - It is glaringly obvious that we need to recruit in certain positions. We are desperate for a recognised goal kicker and I read with despair in pre-season that the players were having a competition to see who would be kicking goals. The loss of Micky Mac is a huge blow and it is too much to rely on Sam Powell to put in a shift like he did at Saints week on week. Now that George Williams is injured we are on the bones of our in the halves. We now have Lockers who started the season at prop playing stand off. We have to recruit even if its only a stop gap signing. Again, other clubs can pull off short term signings so why can't we?
We have started the season well compared to previous seasons but in my opinion there is a great deal that can improved upon.

| I have occasionally seen snippets of Aussie press chat in which they talk about Sarginson as if he's a young sensation. All I can say is that I think they're in for a shock.
One good match in the last God knows how many does not a superstar make.
I won't particularly miss Charnley either. He's looked good this season - so far, but that's a poor return for the length of time he's actually been here. I also won't miss the constant 'will he leave or won't he' discussions that have surrounded him for so long. It's been self-evident for a while that playing for Wigan is not his priority.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Sarginson was born down-under, can't say i blame him for going as he may have family out there, but i don't know. Josh tweets more about clothes, and to and about RU, so it's no surprise. Good luck to em both. Tho it's only just confirmed to us, no doubt the club will have know for sometime in Josh's case, and all were aware of Sarginsons intentions. Be interesting to see where we go from here, but then, it's always interesting to watch the comings and goings...
