well, should we go with Hampshire at 6 and Williams at 7 as they know each other game inside out...????? or are we not strong enough in the forwards to give them room to play

He's lucky to have the EGP at his disposal or he might have missed the WCC. Then again, the RFL have been known to be rather accommodating with respect to bans before big games. Hopefully he (and a couple of others) will learn from this.

| It will be fascinating to watch Williams and Hampshire.
We need mac to play if we are to give them the platform they need, though.

| I'm surprised Tomkins didn't get charged.
Smith should submit the EGP - I predict Wane will pick Powell over Hampshire.
Not sure personally which is the best way to go - we'll need someone to take over the kicking game whichever way we go.

| Hampshire and Williams for me but pretty sure it'll be Powell and Williams. I think they're a little similar but either way it's good to have some options.
Big night for whichever two are selected.

Very interesting decision for Wane regarding Hampshire.

| Goal kicking could come in to the decision. Charnley had said in his MEN column that he's having headaches still and is a doubt so that would leave us looking towards Bowen possibly? Other then him we'd have to pick Hampshire wouldn't we?

| Can understand why he got a ban.
Got dragged into reacting to Widnes' verbals and has paid the price.
Ah Van has only got a one match ban for smashing Josh into the middle of this week. The match review panel and disciplinary panel are worse then useless, they have become dangerous.
As for missing the WCC if no EGP applied, well he shouldn't have had to.
When we went to Brisbane in 1994, Andrew Gee was in the middle of an eight match ban. The Broncos via Wayne Bennett appealed and said the ban was for (then ARL) League matches and shouldn't apply to the WCC. Bennett won the appeal and Gee played.
If the ban had been on Smith then we should have appealed.

Williams kicked goals against Dewsbury, London and Bradford last year so my guess would be he would take over the kicking before SW would pick someone else purely for goal kicking reasons. He seems reluctant to put Hampshire in the halves it seems having decided he wants him to be a FB so I would expect him to pick Powell against Huddersfield.

Wanes reluctance to pick Hampshire in the halves after coming out with a statement that he can be stubborn when he makes a decision could be the final straw with Hampshire, when it is obvious that Wigan need someone for an halfback position this week.
If the lad says that he does not want to play fullback he may decide is future is somewhere else.

| It won't happen but I'd go with Hampshire and Powell.
Powell is the only one of the three I've seen properly lead at first team level (in the Hull game at home in '13 when we nearly beat them with reserves and the New Zealand Warriors game last year), he has a really good passing and kicking game, also looked in good form against Workington despite having a quiet game off the bench at hooker v Widnes.
Hampshire is an great talent who should have got the 6 shirt in the first place IMO. He genuinely looks like he might score any time he has the ball. Can't comprehend how he keeps getting left out. I thought Williams was pretty good in the first half v Widnes and made plenty tackles, but I still think Rocky offers a lot more to us. Not to mention he is a goal kicker as well

| I was actually hoping Smith picked up a ban as it meant we would have more chance of seeing Williams at 7 and Rocky at 6. I appreciate there is little difference between the halves these days but I am a little old school and like to see a more controlling 7 and a dynamic 6.
Unfortunately I don't think it will happen. I think we will see Williams paired with Powell.

| Williams & Hampshire for me.
It won't happen but at some point SW will have to play these two in tandem at half back.
Would give us lots of pace and with Hampshire we can expect the unexpected.
Just hope that SW takes the plunge even though he will probably see it as the riskier option certainly in defence
