You've given a good chunk of your life to the Wigan cause.
Hope it works out for you at Hull KR.

Darrell Goulding joins Hull KR from Wigan Warriors
Hull KR have made their first signing for 2015 with the addition of Darrell Goulding from Wigan Warriors.
The 26-year-old centre, who has been with the Warriors since 2005, will join Rovers on a three-year contract at the end of this season.
"I needed a new challenge at this stage of my career. The ambition at Hull KR really stood out," said Goulding.

| Thornley and Tomkins centres for next season? Or will Sarginson carry on there?

I suspect Thornley, Sarginson & Gelling will make up the centres. Wane specifically said that he's signed Joel to play back-row so, barring an injury crisis, I presume that's where Joel will play.

Not world class but a good solid centre. Has a tendency to fly out of the line every now and then and leave his winger a little exposed though but I don't think he's alone in that. Suffered with injury this season so he's been a bit inconsistent and hasn't managed to hold a place down but if he can get back to the form of a couple of seasons ago, and he's young enough to do that, you'll have a decent centre.

He is a good player, that is very underrated, and has a good all round game. He has been good or very good the last couple of seasons and when fit is the best centre at the club. People are looking into his form this season but completely ignore the fact that he has had a knee injury since the World Club Challenge and was only left out of the side after telling the club he was leaving. A very good signing for Hull KR.

| I am sorry to see Darrell going. All the new challenge bumpf doesn't hide the fact that he is off to a club who generally struggle. Good luck to KR in trying to improve but I cannot see him moving forward. At the same time I worry about our club. To challenge we need top class centres rather than people filling in. I know that Gildart is well thought of but he is still years away from a regular starting spot and who is going to guide his development? Just look at how many tries we concede on the edge against how many walk ins our wingers get.

On his day he's a very good winger's centre who will make plenty of assists. However, for me he always seemed to follow one good season with a bad one, meaning just when he secured a regular first team spot he would go on to lose it again.
My favourite memory of him was actually his performance out on the wing in the 2010 grand final. He scored a try, smashed Meli in touch when he looked certain to trample over the top of him and score, and made an intercept when they looked like they were in for a try after a big break as well. Meli did fend him off to score towards the end of the game but it was effectively over by that point. People tend to talk more about how Leuluai and Gleeson played in that game but for me Goulding was just as important in putting us ahead then closing Saints out of the game.

I agree with the above. A great signing for Hull KR. He's been dogged by injury this season, but in his time at Wigan it has only really been since MaGuire/Wane took over that he has been given a good crack in the centres and he hasn't let us down. Charnley scored 40+ tries outside of him last season and the best centre play I have seen this season has been from Goulding v Castleford where Charnley got five. In the context of Super League - where there are no world class centres - Goulding is one of the best. He is the best centre at the club and I'm disappointed to see him leave - especially after he has been here so long and is only 26. Sarginson does not look like developing into a top class centre as Radlinski has been quoted on the website, but I've never played professional rugby so what do I know!

About him shooting out of the line, most times he nails his opponent, or breaks up moves. The odd occasion it doesn't come off for him and unfortunately, this is what lots of Wigan fans seem to pick up on.
For me, he's a classic centre, knows the role inside out and is a great loss for us, especially with the non-specialist players the club thinks are adequate back up.

| Good luck to Goulding. He and Charnley presented one of the best pairings I have seen play for Wigan, so I'm sad to see that it won't be resurrected after they have both had problems with injury.
A centre with a great brain. He knows how to set up a winger whenever he has the chance, be it by quick hands, a flick or a little grubber. His defensive reads imo have been fantastic (though he did have the odd nightmare game), at times it felt like we would go weeks without leaking a single try down his edge. He does the little things well, his scooting technique has always impressed me, and he will put his hand up when we need it. It's a shame he isn't particularly athletically gifted, but he made it work. Obviously not in the same class, but he's not too dissimilar to Lyon in the way he goes about his game.
I hope he continues to improve and nail that year-to-year consistency. He strikes me as a guy who shouldn't really lose much when he gets older (as he didn't have that much to rely on physically) so he has every chance of continuing to improve if he can apply himself.
Best of luck to him.

| Sad to see him go really, a good player, a Wigan lad and one of the club's longest serving players. I personally think we should be doing all we can to keep hold of our established players, maybe the club tried but not hard enough?
There's an interesting snippet amongst his interview: "and the fact they wanted me so much (Hull KR) was a really good feeling to have." Maybe a hint that he knew he wasn't wanted at Wigan?
