| nobody has mentioned anything about his performance against saints. I thought he played really well, tackles hard and is very hard to put down and doesn't seem to end up on his back in one tackle.

| Was sat in the saints section.... was fun even though it was a warm up. Was impressed, it's easy to see the flash stuff players do but like the first post says he finds the ground face down and he plays the ball real quick. Sure the Matty Smith kick Green try came off one of his drives and a quick play? Pettybourne looks like he will be a real fans favourite takes the ball in and his aggression in defence was great to see Dan Sarge looks like he could be a gem, he gives us some real cut in the . Clubb while not as eye catching made a real solid start, his drive into the ruck and quick play the ball could be used to set some plays up for the team.

| Agree with you. Thought Clubb was good. So was Bateman. Both were impressive in attack and defence. Think Bateman could be a Hock type player. I am pleased for Clubb getting a chance at a top club, no pun intended. I think SW sees some leadership quality in him

| A good solid start and will only get better.
Always thought he'd be our right sided 2nd row following HH.
Could be a very good buy.

| Just watched about 50 mins of last night game after not being able to go last night and I was surprised nobody had mentioned how well he's played before now. He's a very strong runner and the Saints lads had a job on to bring him down. His former London colleague Sarginson was excellent as well.
They look like another two 'projects' that will turn out to be top draw.

| Wasn't impressed to be honest.
Ran the wrong line on a few occasions, barely ran out lines to bring his centre into the game and had no offload. Bateman, looked much better in the SR.
Just as Burgess already looks better than Thornley on the wing.

| Clubb did OK and took some stopping.
His first proper contact game in ages and he's already in contention for scapegoat of the year. He'll be an asset in time to come.

| He didn't let himself down on his debut and played quite well. He ran the ball hard and showed that he can be difficult to put down. He was also physical in defence.
I admit that I'll need a bit of convincing that he's the best choice for the right side second row position. I just haven't rated him on the very rare occasions I've seen him play there. If I'm not mistaken he's only started about 3 or 4 games at second row in the last four years.
Based on his size and how he plays the game I've always seen him as a player suited to playing down the middle, mainly as a prop forward. I worry about his mobility when defending wider as I always thought of him as a very poor defender when he was a centre.
Wane obviously thinks he's got potential as a second row forward though so I'm looking forward to seeing what aspects of his game he thinks will be effective in that position. Having a big man out wide can certainly cause problems but I do think he'll need to be a hell of a lot fitter than ever before to be successful there.
We've already seen players change the way they play and improve under Wane and he seems to be good at getting the best out of forwards. He likes his 'projects' and Clubb would certainly fit into that category. Ben Flower has been a revelation and the improvements in his game have been huge. Lauaki was a similar gamble that didn't quite pay off although I still think we got more out of him than Hull did.

| We should know a lot more this time tomorrow when the real thing begins.
I hate friendlies and this is partly because they can be so deceiving to the real thing.
I remember what was said following Seu Seu's performance in the friendly against London.
Clubb does look the part though and Im pretty confident that SW has done his homework on him.

| With regards to the Huddersfield game I think he got caught out a few times in defence by picking the wrong man and not tracking back as much.

| He also seemed to be far too keen to defend in the middle of the park. Smith and Clubb were leaving a vast expanse of open field between themselves and Goulding and Burgess. Just lucky Huddersfield never went for it.

He was poor and pretty anonymous. As Cherry pie said the right side of defence was left wide open at times.

And when they did they butchered a few chances. Definitely missed Hansen down that side in defence (Matty Smith had a shocker last night in terms of tackle effectiveness, constantly being brushed off), and obviously Tomkins in attack. Bowen's service to Goulding meant he had no space at any point, though he set Burgess up well.

| Played more like a prop, possibly not mobile enough.
