Confirmed via Twitter by Wigan Today that Salford are after Hansen but he says the club have an option on his contract for next year

We'd be crazy not to exercise that option

Believe it or not there were quite few posters on here who not so long ago thought he was average and offered very little to Wigan.

IMO he has been a cornerstone (along with O'Loughlin) of the Wigan team for the last four or five years. I'd be very disappointed with IL ans KR if Hansen wasn't offered a two or three year deal, he's still only twenty-seven years of age. I think he could eventually move up to prop in exactly the same way that Morley and Peacock have.

If he keeps himself fit he could play for us for another 10 years and i certainly see him moving to prop in a few years time

as far as I am concerned this is massive for IL and the club.
H has been so important to us - yet often taken for granted - we really have to keep hold of him.

from what I gather the sticking point is he wants to secure his future for at least a two year deal preferably three. for whatever reason this seems a problem to IL.

For the life of me I cannot see what the issue is.
I'd offer him the contract now!
he is a quality player. never gives less than 100%.
conducts himself superbly on and off the field.

a total no brainer for me.

How do we know H has not yet been offered a contract?

Fabulous player, under rated by some for a long time, hope he stays with us for a long time. Maybe the problem he had with his wrist is a stumblig block as far as a long term contract is concerned but hope not.

IMO to "exercise" the option of the extra year would trigger him wanting to leave.
the issue is that H wants more than a year.

The years option is a safety net at least if talks drag a little. I'd personally want him on a 4 year deal but maybe there's other things to consider for him and the club.

I can't see him or any other good players risking a move to Salford. The good Doctor seems a bit of a loose cannon who is promising a lot but delivering little, to date.
