| Got away with one there! We didn't really play as we can do at all tonight. However saying that, we came away with the two points...just.
+'s
Flower - thought his first stint was fantastic
Richards - just a legend isn't he
Macca - steadied the ship when he came on really well
-'s
Mossop - really poor again, Unlike most on here, based on his current form I struggle to see what we're losing when he leaves
Thornley - All over the place defensively, made Crooks and Lineham look like worldbeaters and also pulled Pat out of position as a result
Kicking game - back to last year's efforts of 1 in 5 finding the floor
Completion/Discipline - did our best to give it away
Not a vintage display but a tough place to go and we returned with the points! Hopefully will give everyone a wake up call and remind the players they need to work!

| I think we need to actively start searching for a back up to McIlorum now. We just aren't getting enough from those young options when they come on IMO especially Logan Tomkins who is way short IMO of first team standard.
I keep saying it but get Daryl Clark in. Do that as of now and we'd win something this year.

Am I the only one that likes Sam Powell at hooker? He's quite quick from the play of the ball and just what we need later on in a game when defences are tiring.

| Bad night at the office. However, playing poor and winning is the sign of a champion side. Somtimes you have to rough it and grind out the win.

I prefer Powell to Logan Tomkins, I reall struggle to see what Logan offers in attack, iv never seen him make any yards from dummy half, he just seems to go through the motions and trot from play the ball to play the ball. Hope he proves me wrong but I cant see him lasting the duration at Wigan.

| We've had lots of quite easy wins recently which has been, on one hand, good experience for the younger members of the squad. However they haven't been learning how to win the close fought contests, so this game was really important in that respect. Got away with it too, despite doing plenty to invite hull back into the game. Just need to learn from it for future close games against other big clubs, especially the knock-out ones. Won it with small patches of class, which is good to watch but is even better when it's large patches of class. Still, well done to the lads.

| Made hull look good though WAY to many mistakes and penalties
A good wakeup call but still +two points we would have likely lost in the past (look at previous seasons there was always a game where we imploded post easter)

| Just come across this beauty on the Hull board

It may do but if you don't make your feelings known then nothing ever will change, at least by speaking directly to the officials they can review the performances of refs and may make them think twice about being so intimidated by Wigan in the future, it may make no difference at all, but whats to lose?

2572.jpg Ah, good taste!
What a dreadful thing!
Taste is the enemy of creativeness.

| I think what we are seeing is partially a result of the scrapping of the overage element in the reserves.
to me its no coincidence that Moose and H have come straight back in with no chance to get match fitness. we should be looking to use scorpions as a way to bring injured players back up to speed before they hit the first team.
However, good win when not playing at our best. This is definitely the most improved area of the team in the last few years.

He's certainly the better of the two and I like him as a player but I just feel the difference between what Micky Mac is offering compared to the two youngsters is huge and its in danger of hurting us in big games.
I'd rather play Burke from the bench and let Lockers take that 20-25 minute spell at hooker.

| I agree that it was good to scrawp a win. But I doubt Waney will be happy with our close-in defence. I thought we looked quite weak near the line.

The question then though is what happens when Green, Smith or McIlorum get injured in a big game. You either get Lockers at 6 (where he's proven himself poor time and time again) or Lockers at 9 with Logan/Powell backing up, so you ask them to come into a big game with little experience, without the usual momentum that McIlorum creates and against hard opposition in a high pressure game. Recipe for disaster, especially when they don't even have reserves games to play in the meantime.
I say it's better to keep playing them for now so they're as prepared as possible come the business end of the year, that's when it counts after all. Then if neither looks good have a look at who's available for next year. Personally I'd like to see Powell come off the bench at 7 and Smith go to 9, think that could really work well.
