| If you had to pick 5 players for next year as Madge (with help from the players) did in 2010 who would you pick?
2010:
Carmont
Bailey
Coley
O'Loughlin
Leuluai
Then J.Tomkins worked his way into this through the year.
2013:
O'Loughlin
Richards
Erm.....Sam???
Really struggling to pick five. We'll still be a decent side next season, but this is why i can't see us getting to a final and definitely not winning one.
Leeds have:
McGuire
Peacock
JJB
Sinfield
Burrow
Warrington:
Hodgson
Briers
Morley
Waterhouse
Westwood
No coincidence that these two contested both finals this year. Leaders and experienced big game players are what get you through the crunch games. We're in a position now where we've lost far too much experience over the last 2 years. So who would you pick as a 5 man leadership team?

I was thinking about Hansen. Never really seen him as a leader but I suppose he is respected in the changing room. Farrell may have a bit to do before he has earnt the respect from the players. Maybe Micky Mac could be a shout as the players all seem to hold him in high regard.

| I was only thinking the other day we should bring this back. I think it would be very handy because it's a system that makes people take on extra responsibility and it produces leaders IMO. It worked wonders for Tommy Leuluai for example and I can think of a few players who I'd like to see develop and become a leader rather then a follower.
My 5 would be-
Lockers(obvious choice)
Tomkins(again pretty obvious)
Richards(he's our most experienced back)
Mossop(This would help him kick on)
McIlorum(it could help iron out his rough edges)
The first three are obvious choices but the last 2 are the ones I feel would benefit most if it were brought back. I think Mossop gets a bit lazy at times and maybe takes his place for granted. He's proven playing for England that he's much better then his recent performances for Wigan would suggest and that extra responsibility would help kick him on. I'd also give McIlorum a chance because I see him as somebody who leads by example but he does get it wrong now and again. This could help him grow as a player and person.
I can't see Wane bringing it back though because he seems to want to distance himself from a lot of Maguires techniques, rightfully or wrongly.

Hansen is a solid 'no nonsense' forward who has been with the club for what seems a lifetime. Yes, he seems quiet and unassuming but he's a player who really puts the graft in when needed.
Faz, yeah I was struggling a bit here. I could name the four pretty easy and think we are probably one player short of a true leadership team so I threw him in there. He's an established player, has been involved in some great moments (Good Friday 2011 for instance) and is handling the 'Farrell' legacy pretty well so far. A good role model for the younger forwards who are looking to break into the first team.

| Hansen IMO is more valuable to the team than Hock. His contract is up at the end of next season and I would be devastated to see him leave. I'm sure he could step up to prop forward as he is still only 27 years of age.
He must be due a testimonial soon, which hopefully will give him a big incentive to stay at Wigan.

I hope the club grants him one and doesn't screw this up.
As to a leadership team I never saw him as part of it despite having been a big fan of his myself for years.
I think we struggle outside of Lockers, Sam and Pat to come up with any other truly convincing candidates.

Leeds and Warringtons "leadership team" for 2014 should be interesting, not many of those 10 mentioned will be around.

Depends who they replace them with and who comes to the fore from their existing players. It's not a problem for them in 2013 though is it?

In 2014. Hence why his contract runs out after next year, because he will become compensated on the salary cap..... won't he?

Not if O'Loughlin is still at the club. The £50K or 50% of salary, only applies for one player per club, unless they decide differently at this weeks meeting of the Superleague Clubs

| I certainly hope Harrison gets a decent contract when it is up next year, with a good testimonial too, he's always put a good shift in alongside the better paid players!

| I'm not sure even a testimonial will keep Hansen at the club sadly. He's of Kiwi heritage and his best mate is playing back at the Warriors now. Their salary cap dwarfs ours and what they may be able to offer him could be more then a wage and testimonial income combined at Wigan.

He will stay at Wigan for life if offered a fair and reasonable contract!

His testimonial fixture has already been agreed.
