They can't now, will have to bail them out like Bradford, they have set a precedent.

As long as Hughes is willing to keep pouring money in, I suppose. They're not the only club whose gates aren't enough to sustain them.

Personally I don't think they offer anything to the league and would rather they thought about maybe another French club or bring back a team from the heartlands.

A team from the North east would be good if there was one capable to play in SL, I reckon it would take well seeing as the Falcons are now out of top flight yawnion and not everyone supports Toon, Sunderland or Middlesbrough surely...

Half of the problem with the London team is that they're based right next to Twickenham. London is a huge city with lots of potential places for a rugby league club, why on earth one next to RU HQ? That part of town isn't exactly easy to get to either. Don't think they really give themselves the best chance.

He didn't mention the 'British' game, he said the 'League' personally, with how well Catalans have done, i'd quite like another french team. As long as it's sustainable down there. Catalans aren't really noted for bringing young French players

The plug doesn't need pulling on London Broncos.

The main problem is that the club is in a nice area, which also happens to be a rugby union heartland, and we all know that the majority of union fans are as bigoted towards league, as some league fans are towards union. So, why are we even trying? When we were there a few weeks ago, locals were asking who we were and what tops we had on and seemed surprised that an RL game was taking place. Sorry, but having RL in Twickenham is a waste of time.

I know London RLFC, in its various guises have moved grounds regularly, which has not helped. But surely, one final relocation is needed to a more working class area, where grass roots RL is already taking hold. Gillingham, for example (and if available), would be ideal.

And I say working class, not because I'm trying to be an RL-style inverted snob. It seems - and do correct me of I'm wrong - that RL in London is popular with working class kids who aren't suited to playing football, but don't feel well-to-do enough to play RU. Surely, that's the talent pool and fan base we want to be working with. Get those kids to games and they'll be fans for life. In the meantime, they will bring their parents. Surely it's a win-win.

I don't think it's to do with class as much as tradition. We often seem to forget that RU is played by the working class in the Midlands, the West Country and South Wales. I think it's more a case that southwest London is just RU through and through, and has resisted the influence of RL to the nth degree.

I feel that as long as someone - preferably not us - is prepared to keep wasting money on London, then we might as well keep including them. But it feels increasingly like a fool's errand. As others have said, the south of France seems to be a far more welcoming environment to RL, but I'm not sure how great their basic infrastructure is down there, what stare their amateur teams are in, etc.

Rugby League is one of if not the fastest growing participation sport in London especially at school level I believe if the sport will ever become national we must embrace London, it's obviously got a huge population and is the media heart land of this country a strong London side would lead to a stronger super league in many ways. I don't want to give up on London yet but as described above strategic changes need to be made such as the clubs locations to fully realise the potential of rugby league in the capital.

The gamble that the RFL made was that a very large RU crowd in SW London (and there is one), would look at RL, recognise the similarities and attend games.

What they didn't count on was the fact that a LOT of RU "fans" actually know little about the sport, instead they attend games due to the social nature of the game. They are unlikely to follow RL at the present time.

There are other RU fans, who, as pointed out are as biggoted against RL as many RL fans are as biggoted against RU. They will never watch RL.

That leaves a much smaller section of RU fans who are able to appreciate the skills on display in RL. Unfortunately this is a much much smaller percentage of the total "fan base".

So what's the solution? Well imo a move to "Working Class East London" is not the answer. That area has a huge immigrant population who are more likely to want to watch Badmington than Rugby. The "indigenous" population is fixated on Soccer, virtually every other sport is a very distant "second best".

Additionally a move to East London would mean that RL supporters travelling from the West generally, would have an extra hour on their journey.

If you want to move the club, then somewhere in North West London would be the best bet.

Personally I would leave it where it is.

Its very nice to see all those kids running round the pitch at half time, but do any of them (or their parents) ever come to a game when they are not part of the half-time entertainment?

If Toulouse could come in and have the impact Catalan have with almost 10,000 crowds then that is surely a better option than London. I think Toulouse is far bigger than Perpignan too which suggest higher attendances. Though obviously thats not always the case with London the case in point.

Toulouse would also expose more French to top level RL which can only improve the French Test side which is surely the most important reason for it all.

Martin, my boy was one of those kids running round the pitch at half time, and yes we do attend other games. Being a Wigan fan based in Basingstoke, we have been lucky that for the last 2 seasons, my day off(postie so work Sats) has fallen pn the day of the Wigan game at the Broncos, which has happened to be the day of their kids tournement. He plays for Guildford and trains every Sat morning from April through to Sep, and attend many other comps around the London area. This season we have been to Elmbridge, Medway, Brighton and St Albans for comps. Would you rather these kids be sitting at home and not potentially helping Rugby League to grow to a wider area or just stay up in the northern heartlands. Its going to be a long road to make a succesful London club. By the way, some of those kids will be playing the curtain raiser at Wembley before Challenge Cup final, as a local school made it to the final of a national tournament, coached by my sons coach, so you never know, they may be stars of the future, playing for London.
