| This guy will be a top class rugby league player he has all the attributes and skills. He was unlucky when it came to the 3 disallowed tries but other than that he was a stand out performer in an extremely average display. I'm sure he will continue to improve as he fills in for Pat in the next 5 weeks.

| He really needs to work on his defence, especially on the line. A couple of times last night, he was stood up by Fev, ball watching. He has everything needed to be a great player. I'm sure the experience of the next 4 or 5 weeks will be invaluable to him.
Hopefully he can turn up to training every day so he doesn't get dropped again.

| He's got skills that's for sure. IMO though he's obviously not a winger. I really want to see him action at centre.

| What an athlete this guy is. He's a huge lad with a decent turn of pace and is as strong as a forward. He also has great ball skills and in the dry weather he'll be a real handful. As for his defence it does need work but that'll come as long as he keeps working hard. It will help having Carmont inside him to guide him.
I said at the time of signing him he could become our Shontayne Hape or another Doc Murray and all the signs at the moment are he'll be the first as long as his commitment levels are there.

| i liked him, thought he had a good game, can't really blame him for dropping the ball during scoring, we see that all the time and they're more often than not given(specially if your a Saint or Rhino) with more first teams games this season will we even need to bring in a replacement for Carmont, if Gelling and Goulding work then stick with them, i know i've been critical of Goulding in the past but he seems to be making a good go of his opportunity this time around

I think the future of our back line is incredibly exciting:
1. Sam Tomkins
2. Josh Charnley
3. Darrell Goulding
4. Anthony Gelling
5. Matty Russell/Ryan King
Adding Hughes in there who has proven to be a competent super league centre.

| Watched the game on the tv and I honestly thought he was awful and looked an embarrassing signing.
Ask yourself (and answer truthfully) who was the best on the night between him and his opposite winger Gareth Raynor?

| The whole future of the sides exciting. To look at our recruitment in the off season it was underwhelming but Gelling and Dudson look like two real finds. They both obviously needed fitness work when they first arrived and still do but their natural abilities are huge. I've also been happy enough with the contributions of Flower and also Lauaki (apart from his 5 mad minutes).
Add in all the experienced lads that still have years left in them like Hock, Hansen, Lockers, Goulding and Prescott, the top class young players that are amongst the best players in their positions in the league like Sam Tomkins(best player in the league), Mossop, Charnley and McIlorum and then the new breed making their way like Russell, King, Hughes, spencer and Logan Tomkins and our squad is set fair for years and years.

| I didnt think he was that good to be honest. I thought that it was a real mixed bag from him with some good pieces of player and some shockers. He still has a long way to go with his defense, positional play and general game awareness before cementing a regular first team spot.

| Gelling was one of our weakest players to be honest, but he is showing that he's got plenty to offer in the long run. Defensively he made a few basic mistakes though.

For a player out of position in a team who didn't get out of first gear on a terrible pitch playing an enthusiastic gritty side I thought he performed very well.

Is he out of position though? The coaching staff certainly see him more as a winger than centre due to the flaws in his game. From what I have seen so far I would agree. He did okay, no more no less, but for me there is no point in bigging him up on very little, ignoring the faults and setting him up for a fall.

I agree, i thought his finishing was woeful and his defence was poor and he ran pretty soft for his size. He got lucky in the second half when he dropped a ball and the ref ruled it as a strip.

Ran soft? you need to watch him again he takes the ball in as hard as Pat does, and you can hardly blame his finishing when Raynor effectively took him out.
