[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

Surely this would be a fairer way of selling tickets rather than effectively giving the work shy and pensioners priority?............Should also follow their lead too on showing re-runs of games. Imagine if we did this after big games in the season, like when semi and final tickets went on sale for wembley - Could pack the south stand bar out with fans just goin picking their tickets up for the next game and decide to stop out for the rest of the night.
Said for a long time should do it with all away games for fans who cant get to them at weekend - surely we'd get a couple of hundred interested and all it would cost is a ten quid tape from Micron - Think the stagedoor were on about doin this at one point but it never got goin for some reason!

| Have I missed something here, what are they doing differently/special?
Edit: Got it now the Thursday night thing, ignore me. We do have a phone and online ticketing system. I have never missed a game personally and I doubt many others have either because they have been unable to get to the stadium to purchase tickets. Until this is a problem it doesnt need addressing by the club (much the same as the people who keep calling for priority tickets)

| Wigan used to do that back in the 80s. They'd play the game on the Sunday and Micron Video would provide the match tape for the Riverside Club to show on the Wednesday or Thursday night before making it available to hire in their shop on Gidlow Lane.

| Never mind that, why can't I just walk up and pay in at the turnstile anymore? 140 years of being able to do so and now we are moving to all ticket for no reason that I can fathom.

It's the same as the reason why you can't pay in cash at fairgrounds any more, and instead have to purchase tokens. It's to stop the (minority of) turnstile operators nicking off with the cash they collect.

| Quote: gerr'emonside "Little clubs leading the way again with simple yet effective ticketing policies. If featherstone rovers can think about the majority of their fans, who are likely to be unable to go to the staduim to buy tickets during the day as they have jobs, why cant we?
As others have said tickets went on sale by phone or online at same time as they did at the ticket office (and at the sort of time most people would be taking lunch breaks) so no reason someone at work couldn't purchase today.
With regard to the re-running of matches, Fev own POR, Uncle Dave owns the DW. They can use their ground to host such things and get income for the club. We would have to rent the stadium (or at least one stand) and most likely much if not all of the bar take would go to Whelan. To cut him out of the profits (maybe even to make any profit) we would need to hold such an event at Orrell and that ground simply doesn't have the facilities (such as a bar or suitable indoor venue, they may not even hold a licence to sell alcohol there).

now perhaps this is something that should be looked at for the future...develope Orrell so these kind of functions for the club can be held there.

Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013
Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10172.jpg |
