According to NRL Roumer mill on Twitter, big Gaz Ellis has been released from the last year of his contract and will return to Englan next year.
Great forward but can't see him anywhere but Leeds if it's true.

I can't see us needing him, we have plenty of forwards. He might end up at Wire with Morley getting a bit old.

Normally I'd say jump at the chance to sign someone of Gareth Ellis' calibre, but given the class we have and the competition for places, do we really need him?

If we did sign him, it would not only deprive a home grown player of a place in the squad, but it would be a signing made just to prevent other clubs from getting him, which I thought was a mentality we left behind in the early 90s.

As said on rumours, i'd only have him if he was younger and would play him at centre then. We dont need a back rower.

Would be a massive boost for them if they could sign a player like Ellis. But surely he'd want to be mixing it with a team who are challenging for honours?

Ellis will be 32 next year, and I expect will want a three year deal. No thank you.

But I suppose he would fit in well at Wire or Leeds.

He's already achieved a lot in the game, and been successful for both Leeds and Wests.

You're probably right.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Saints make a move for him. Flannery is leaving at the end of the season and Ellis could be an old head to help the youngsters.
