| To be fair he thinks we will win the GF.
In relation to Sam, he is clearly stating that the MOS has become a contest of popularity. We all know Sam wouldn't win it firmly based on how popular he is. I personally still think a lot of players will vote for him knowing he is the most talented player around, so he will still win it. Gary is saying he won't win it because he doesn't believe Sam has the respect of the players.
I think we will wait for the players verdict on that before listening to GS.

| I think he is wrong there. I don't remember too many players complaining about him only complementing him in the media. It's the media who say he doesn't respect nor has the respect of his fellow pros.

| The MOS isn't for the most popular player nor is it for the most talented player. It is supposed to be for the player who has had the most influence in games they have played. The voting system is still flawed as players from some teams use tactical voting to get their player to the top of the votes. It is easily done and therefore the MOS award is sometimes not a true reflection of what the award is all about.

Actually, isn't more like certain fans who say that?

| Tomkins and Monaghan will be up there as the top contenders for MOS, there is no doubt about it.
However I assume the sole reason this story has seen the light of day on here is basically because he has dismissed Sam's chances in favour of a Warrington player, yes?

No, it's because of the quote in the first post. Duh.

No its because he uses a very weak arguement for Sam not getting it. Plus there is certainly no love lost between Fat Gary and Wigan, he won a yorkshire cup once you know and so is the fountain of all rugby league knowledge! He had a better games to win ratio than tony smith to!!
Should a wire player get it then it will be deserved and most Wigan fans would respect it esp if it was Monaghan, unfotunately should Sam win it I dont think the same could be said the other way!!
