| South Stand Development Put On Hold
The redevelopment of Headingley Carnegie’s famous South Stand has been deferred and subject to a review, it will now be open for Leeds Carnegie matches this season and for Leeds Rhinos’ 2012 Super League season.
Paul Caddick, Chairman of Leeds CF&A Ltd said, “We have worked hard with cooperation from Leeds City Council to achieve planning permission but after reviewing our business, the cost of borrowing and repaying the debt and the risk to the club involved, the board have decided to look for a funding model in line with all other super league clubs. It has been a big decision for our Board and we remain determined to complete the redevelopment of the Stadium as soon as possible. With this in mind we have met with Yorkshire CCC and Leeds City Council and have agreed to form a working group to explore how the final phases of development for rugby and cricket at Headingley Carnegie can be funded and delivered in the future.”

| What about all that "earmarked" funding we were told was paying for all of this?
Could be a tight squeeze for the Sam Tomkins booathon next season - rlhttps://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/leeds-rhinos/leeds_rhinos_famous_south_stand_in_closure_threat_1_3722005rl

You could always buy a brick
"Leeds Rugby have launched a 'Buy a Brick' scheme, which offers fans the chance to buy a number of limited edition bricks that will be displayed in the external tunnel area of the North Stand from the 2012 season."

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

| Is money runing out and the once mighty Rhinos. Cant afford to redevelop ground let 2 players go mid season and no replacements come in.
Bugger if this came out on Friday before the final against them Sam could have said I am giving you 2 quid for the redevelopment of your ground. Would have saved him a potential £1000.

| I knew I should have bookmarked that thread. I remember it well, “ring fenced this, ring fenced that, separate cash flows the other”. Classic.
In all seriousness though I do actually hope Leeds can raise the funds to improve the facilities at Headingley. It is great to see the likes of Leigh, Halifax, and Widnes having decent grounds these days.
I was looking on the Saints board at the photos of the new ground coming along and the Salford one on the BBC site. It’s good to see and can only be good for rugby league.

This one? rlhttps://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?f
I've helpfully started it from a point where some knowledgeable poster seems to get certain problems pretty much spot on.

| Maybe their Test Court Case with HMRC over image rights etc isn't going as well as they thought it would. Perhaps the prospect of losing that is making Leeds stall over the South Stand re-development.

| The worst grounds in rugby leagues top flight are now to be found in West Yorkshire. Headingley despite it's excellent atmosphere and aura of history is no better than Central Park or Knowsley Road - Odsal always has been and always will be a dump. Wakefield - words can't describe!!!!

| Leeds Rhinos do not pay any rent for their ground
They also keep all the proceeds of being a multi sport/function venue for 52 weeks of the year. HTH
Wigan may play in a shiny new stadium
But how much do you pay in rent each season for the privilege?
How much revenue do you lose to the Whelan empire every home game in the fans match day expenditure?
I would have thought that as a club that you would make more money long term if you actually owned your own stadium rather than renting?
I'd imagine that the Rhinos make a bigger profit than Wigan rugby league club do?
