Has Briers got his equity card yet? his performance today matched any that could come from the RSC.
Given only the length of the field to rehe his carefully considered response in front of the waiting cameras, his public and his nemesis Silverwood (how would a name like that slot so easily into one of Will's plays) he fails us not: " yes SIR, sorry SIR, kiss your bum SIR", the only criticism I can make of this Oscar winning performance is that he did not drop onto one knee to accept total humility ;

Pass the sick bucket, Silverwood should have sent him off for insulting behaviour. icon_lol.gif

Can't stand Briers, but thought that was very clever yesterday ..he had obviously done wrong and then used all of his experience to diffuse the situation

and when he takes the law into his own hands, he will probably get away with it too....

If it were the other way round, and Sam on Briers, we would be posting on a 50 page (not 1 page) thread full of Stains, Whinos and Woolfs all moaning about cheating Sam, gets away with murder etc etc.

I'd have sin binned him for taking an age to get to me. He KNEW the ref wanted to talk to him and he skulked away under the posts at the other end of the pitch. Pathetic.

I'm sure that could have been considered dissent? Add that to the fact that he started the "brawl" too.

Never in a million years.

Silverwood knew exactly what the situation was and entered into the spirit of it. Well played to both of them

Briers has been around the block, he knows how to (and how not to) speak to the ref. He also reacted to the abuse from Wigan fans in the correct way, with a little chuckle and a smile. Don't get me wrong, I really don't like him, but that's because he's a very good player.

fair play to him......it at least showed kids how to address and respect the official in Rugby League.
Makes a change from kids trying to copy footy players who would have been arguing with the ref, with a few expletives thrown in , and going unpunished.

So you prefer to see players mouthing off at refs and showing no respect.... If so I suggest you watch football.

I can understand why fans dislike Briers. If I wasn't a Wire fan I'd dislike him with a passion.

The guys been around a long time, shown plently of petulant behaviour over the years, but can still run a game.

Whether or not Briers was speaking with his tongue planted in his cheek it's far better than a lot of the whinging and arguing that seems to becoming more common. I'd like an emphasis on penalising dissent from Cummings soon.

The situation was defused perfectly by Briers. Old head and all that....

I would agree with the majority on this - acted like a naughty schoolboy. Got told off and accepted it. On with the game.

That's how it should be.

Thought Briers played a different role in this game, normally against Wigan he is to the fore of things but in this one he sat back and interjected for the odd (successful) kick. Only once did we get him one when Joel ran all over him and one and if our paths do meet in the grand final our success or failure will depend on us isloating him from the off, something we have had some difficulty doing in the past.
