I have seen him in the Max's kids club before a game. It was quite funny seeing him leaning against the bar and the kids were oblivious to him.

Even though he is a saints legend, it is hard not to have respect for Sculley as he was a monster of a player and a legend of the SL era.

Not sure why he would be grabbing the 2nd spot as is first assignment though?

As for Rads, i am sure he has mentioned that he is not interested in coaching per say. I think he prefers the managerial side of things.

Would cause more than a stir if it was to come of. I dont think he is "Aryan" enough for some Wigan fans.

I cant personally see any benefit his appointment, what has he shown to make anybody think he would be a good coach?

Would rather we brought in some young tyro Aussie who is making a name for himself . Fresh ideas and something to prove.

What I can see is that, assuming Shaun Wane gets the job, his assistant will be from Wigan or be an ex-Wigan player.

Sadly I've heard this is all but done and Scully is set to be named our no2 with Wane as head coach. When I first heard about this I genuinely believed it was a wind up but reading that backs my sources up. Bad move IMO although in IL we trust!.

bringing in a hungry no 2 with new ideas would be great. personally i would prefer it if this was a UK person, who can go through the system as wane has done.
given the success that Faz and Edwards have had, perhaps we could go for a gifted young coach from a different sport who can learn the specifics of RL but bring in the new ideas from a different arena ?

we have to stop this mentality of going to aus if we are ever to start seeing decent uk coaches again. i am hoping that wane is successful and shows that you can promote from within providing they have done the hard graft and learnt their trade.

What qualifies Sculthorpe to become an assistant??

I first heard about it a month or so ago. I can see both the pro's and cons.

pro's
A very well respected and experienced ex RL player with very good leadership qualities.

cons
Very little coaching experience.

Lenagan hasn't got much wrong since he came to Wigan, so I guess we'll have to trust him to make the correct decision.

One thing, they won't have to pay Scully travelling expenses.

We couldn't have brought a "rookie" Australian in as assistant, as he would not get a work permit.

I would like a UK appointment too. But i just think that we should balance the coaching as IL seems to want to balance the team. Wigan/UK core with some Aussie input.
