| Am I right in thinking big Jeff was binned for catching the ball when Barrow were trying to re-start on their 20?
Surely that was very harsh?

| Harsh but sin-binning offence according to the rules unfortunately. Although, how their player didn't get binned for holding on after we made a break is beyond me.

| Jobsworth refereeing at its finest. Remember at Leeds in the CC last year when we had a player binned for a late challenge on the kicker - because it was the 'rule'. How many players have you seen binned for that offence since?

Yes but the law states "Delay restart of play (i) To deliberately delay the restart of play from the goal line, 20 metre line or halfway line constitutes misconduct for the purposes of this rule."
I would argue that Lima caught the ball and helped to speed up the restart as the ball would have gone to ground otherwise. No way could he be accused of slowing the re-start.

I don't think his intention was to pass the ball to the Barrow man to help speed up play or at least I hope it wasn't
I remember it happening to one of our players which is obviously at a much lower level and was the first time I'd seen it.

| i've heard that as soon as he walked off the pitch radders went over to him to explain what he got binned for. seems lima is a little lax on the old rule book these days, however as this is a little more uncommon and bizarre type of event i suppose you can't blame him. at least he knows now, and also at least we easily won the game too and it wasn't the GF or something!

| Thought it was fair enough myself.
Seem to remember Coley getting sin binned for something very similar a couple of seasons back.

| I still think it was harsh as he didnt deliberately delay the re-start. He instinctively caught the ball and then helped it on its way. If he had booted the ball or delayed a Barrow player from getting the ball then yes sin -binning would have been the right call but he didnt delay the re-start.

| It was harsh because we were hardly going to be wasting time with an easy 36-0 lead already on the board.
Daftest sin bin I've seen was Brian Carney being given a yellow for charging down a Salford goal kick attempt in pre season at Salford. Must have been for a bet but in truth it summed up the poor attitude in 2005 that led to a diabolical second half of that year.

Lack of consistency. I'd have said the professional foul was the worse offence.

He did, but that was a deliberate attempt to stop us as we were on a roll.
The ref wanted to be noticed today IMO, a game like that barely needs a ref yet he was determined to make sure people knew he was there.
