| I was thinking earlier on while talkin to some football fans bemused with how we get our champions from playoffs and it got me thinking:
Seeing as we won both last season and can therefore be impartial which do you consider SHOULD be most important and why? I added a poll too to show some figures etc.
I also invite leeds and saints fans to give an opinion after they have done the same themselves in the past.

| League leaders should be most important but I don't mind that the GF is seen as more important as our sport needs big events to put it on the map.

| League leaders without a doubt. Dont get me wrong Old trafford was amazing last year but had we lost it just would not have been right someone else being called 'Champions' when we had finished first.

| Having been a fan of Saints and experienced winning the league and losing the final, the Grand Final is more important. For the League Leaders Shield you get the subconscious knowledge that you was the best over the course of the season. For the Grand Final you get the feeling of being champions.

| League leaders is the hardest to win but the most important is the Grand Final, without doubt.
I had some American friends over last year, who came to the Grand Final, and absolutely loved it. When they got talking to some of my football fan mates, they couldn't understand how there is no "big game" to determine the winners of the Premiership.

| For me League Leaders is the more impressive in that you have played better over the entire season but this isn't the way our game works anymore and the perception is GF is bigger and if I'm honest I would give up coming top to win the GF again.
The name LEAGUE LEADERS is naff, maybe change to SL CHAMPIONS and GRAND FINAL CHAMPIONS = both get the recognition then (oh and CHALLENGE CUP CHAMPIONS for Wire )

| The GF is currently the most important, but IMO the league leadership should be.
Winning the GF can depend on so many factors in one single game, that even out over the course of the season for the league, and is why the league is, IMO, a much more accurate way of determining which team is the best.

Yeah spot on. The play offs is a fantastic and exciting end to the season. I’d maybe revert to the old top 5 method though as I thought that rewarded clubs for a decent level of consistency throughout the year. I wouldn’t want to be without the play off system now. If nothing else, it’s the one time of year when our sport gets any half decent publicity as the media seem to like the concept too.
The play off system is also the way in which our sport has chosen its champions for the vast majority of its history. We had an interlude between the 70-90’s but prior to that it was a top 16 system I think?
I’d be interested to hear how many of Wigan’s 19 title successes came from a situation where we didn’t finish top of the league after the regular round of matches? Bilko !!!

Would be alot more fair. Switching to a top 5 system would force teams to improve as well! They can't just sneak into the 8 by having a less than average season.
But seeing as we have got rid of P&R a top 8 is seen as a must to keep all the teams in the competition for as long as possible.

| I much enjoy the play off system and the Grand Final, and when footballers disagree with the play off system, a hell of a lot more sports use play offs than first realised. Also If you were to come third in a league why is it ok for someone to finish eighth and go up instead of them. A lot of footballing hypocrites.

| Does anyone else agree that we don't get enough out of the play-offs?
In aus they are played infront of sell-out crowds and are the best games of the year by some distance.
One of the semi-finals last year got nearly 80k! Now obviously we cannot compete with that but we need to be getting better crowds to show off the best our game has to offer!
