| So how big will our first team squad be next year?
With these six new lads into the first team I make it 31 players then one more if Gaz Hock should return later in the season.
Bearing in mind we used 30 players this past season.

Agreed. Clearly, the culture around the team's very important to those in the club.

| Presume Karl Pryce will be on his way then .....!
Does anyone else think not retaining Phelps could mean another Aussie ( hooker?) might yet be signed (and announced after the 4 Nations has finished)?
Or are we sticking with Tommy and Micky Mac with Logan as back up? ( or even Farrell/Tuson, despite "their hands not being quick enough"?)

35. Hock?
I make that between 31-33 at the start then 31-34 if/when Hock returns. Mind, promoting two outside backs and one half back to the first team would seem to spell the end for Deacon and Pryce, especially as it mentions Deacon mentoring Powell. Not quite sure what the point in stepping up a prop is though, we have loads of props plus plenty back rowers who can step up.

It's for development, so not necessarily based on who is likely to play. Training with the first team will be good for Crosby. If we have 6 or 7 props it's still worth developing a player with potential. Judging by the size of him he could become a useful player if he keeps improving. Prescott, O'Carroll and Davies have far from cemented their places for the future so there's a lot to be gained.
I doubt Matty Russell will be called up to play since he's only turned 17 this year but training with the first team squad should help his development.
